Fairview is looking for a Nursing Assistant at the M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina, MN! This position is 60 hours per two weeks on the night shift, for 12 hour shifts, and every third weekend, and is eligible for benefits such as medical, dental, and more M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital offers care to people living and working in the southwest Twin Cities metro area. About this Unit: Have you ever wondered what it would be like to work in an acute care surgical unit? Then the 2nd Floor General Surgery Unit might be the right fit for you! This 30 bed unit focuses on caring for post-op general surgical patients and has a telemetry capability of 26. The General Surgery team cares for surgical patients, including Vascular, Bariatric, Thoracic, GI, Maxillofacial, Urology, and Gynecology. As with all units at Southdale, this team is committed to delivering high-quality care and excellent patient experiences. __ Job Responsibilities The Nursing Assistant is responsible for assisting the professional nurse/caregiver in the delivery of patient care, transporting patient and/or equipment, setting up and maintaining patient rooms, and the reordering and stocking of supplies. The Nursing Assistant does not work autonomously but works under the direction of a professional nurse. The Nursing Assistant may be given a patient care assignment based on unit needs and the discretion of the manager/charge nurse. Provides basic patient care by performing routine duties to include: Personal #grooming, #bathing, #toileting, Feeding, Skin care needs (clean and sterile dressing changes), applying ointments/creams, Oral hygiene, Specimen collection/testing, Position/ambulating, Changing linens, Promptly answers call lights. Assists the nurse in monitoring patient condition. Accurately takes and records weights, input/output, blood pressure, temperature, pulse rates, respiration, oxygen saturation. Places patient on/off monitors or equipment. Reports unusual findings to the RN in a timely manner. Assists with admissions, transfers, and discharge of patients. Orients patient and their family to the environment. Assures the patient’s belongings are accounted for, documented upon admission, transfer and discharge. Transports patients, equipment, specimen and supplies. Assures patients get to appointments on time. Uses transfer belt when assisting patients with transfers and/or ambulation. Cleans sets up, and maintains rooms and equipment. Orders and stocks supplies. Accurately documents tasks performed on appropriate form. Performs other tasks as needed.
