Responsibilities: Perform #mechanical #engineering in support of spacecraft and payload processing for the #NASA #Exploration Ground #Systems (EGS) Orion MultiPurpose Crew Vehicle (MPCV), the NASA Launch Services Program (LSP), and the NASA International Space Station (ISS) Payloads and Orbital Replacement Units (ORU). Candidate will support the Amentum Consolidated Operations, Management, Engineering, and Test (COMET) contract Spaceflight Processing Directorate as a mechanical engineer in the Payload and Spacecraft Mechanical Engineering department that is responsible for assembling, testing, processing, and supporting launch of NASA's ISS flight hardware, LSP spacecraft, and Orion MPCV. Initial assignments will focus on developing an understanding of the mechanical mechanisms and structures assigned to the group and a concept of system operations. Additional responsibilities include troubleshooting non-conformances and problem resolution. Assignments will include preparing ground support equipment (GSE) with technicians for mechanical assembly and hardware lifting and handling in compliance with approved drawings, specifications, and applicable pressure vessel safety standards. Thorough knowledge of flight hardware servicing and mechanical integration will be obtained. Candidates will be required to develop and apply knowledge of technical principles for ISS and Orion MPCV processing operations concepts, ground to vehicle interfaces, vehicle/ground system design and operation, and launch configuration and closeouts. Additional responsibilities in spacecraft processing, procedural development, test requirements, system training and task leader certification will follow. Perform other duties as assigned.
