The Senior Manager, Process Development is a senior technical authority within the GDI function, responsible for shaping the process innovation agenda and ensuring that future back and present forward product innovations can be manufactured with excellence, efficiency, and consistency. This role provides advanced expertise across process design, scale up, digitalization, and commercialization, serving as a key enabler for breakthrough product innovation and long-term system capability. Operating as a high influence individual contributor, the Senior Manager partners closely with global GDI, bottling partners, suppliers, and cross functional teams to define technical pathways, solve complex challenges, and guide the design of equipment and processes needed for next generation beverages. The role also plays a vital part in advancing the pilot plant’s strategic capabilities and shaping the digital future of process development across ASP. What You’ll Do for Us: Process Innovation Leadership (Future‑Back & Present‑Forward) Serve as the senior technical voice guiding process feasibility during early‑stage concepting, ensuring innovation ambitions are backed by scientific and operational reality. Lead the identification, design, and validation of advanced process technologies that enable breakthrough innovation in still and sparkling beverages Translate future‑back innovation spaces - including new ingredients, processes, and product formats - into scalable, manufacturable technical solutions. Proactively identify technical barriers and design pathways to overcome them, enabling the system to commercialize ideas that previously seemed “not possible.” Identify key “pain points” from system partners which require process intervention with TISC, develop and provide process innovations to unlock the pain points Commercialization Excellence & Bottler Enablement Act as the senior technical liaison to system bottling partners, advising on optimal process design, equipment configuration, line strategy, and commissioning requirements. Lead major commercialization efforts, including scale‑up, line trials, validation, commissioning, and trouble‑shooting to ensure first‑time‑right launches. Provide authoritative guidance on process risks (thermal, aseptic, microbiological, formulation‑process interactions) and define mitigation strategies. Strengthen bottler technical capability by sharing best practices, playbooks, technical frameworks, and scientific rationale behind process recommendations. Pilot Plant Strategy, Capability Building & CAPEX Influence Support the Process Director in shaping the technological and capability roadmap for the Tokyo Pilot Plant, ensuring alignment with global GDI platforms and future innovation needs. Lead the technical evaluation and recommendation of new equipment, line designs, and process capabilities that will shape the next generation of pilot plant functionality. Play a central role in CAPEX planning - scoping requirements, evaluating vendors, and ensuring investments support both short‑term commercialization needs and long‑range innovation ambitions. Fully own vendor/supplier management for projects in scope, including technical due‑diligence, cost assessment, installation support, and performance validation. Digitalization, Modelling & Simulation Leadership Lead the advancement of digital capabilities across JSK process development, including: Process modelling and simulation Digital twins for process or equipment systems Predictive analytics for troubleshooting Data‑driven, automated DOE Embed digital tools into the development workflow to reduce trial costs, accelerate learnings, and elevate scientific depth. Help build foundational digital skill sets within the broader GDI community. Technical Troubleshooting & Operational Mastery Provide rapid, senior‑level troubleshooting support for manufacturing challenges (thermal processing, ingredient interactions, aseptic deviations, equipment performance, process controls). Establish and maintain a robust knowledge base - best practices, troubleshooting databases, process guidelines—to uplift operational excellence across JSK. Ensure strong EHS, GMP, and quality principles are embedded in all operations in coordination with plant and process owners. Global Connectivity & Thought Leadership Actively collaborate with Atlanta GDI and other global innovation centers to ensure harmonized standards, consistent technical approaches, and shared learnings. Participate in global technology forums, contribute to platform development, and advocate for JSK needs and innovation priorities. Bring strategic, outside‑in intelligence from global suppliers, academic partners, and OEMs to shape process development in JSK. Capability Building & Influence Leadership (No Direct Reports) Serve as a senior mentor and technical role model for other engineers and cross‑functional partners. Enable capability development through training, coaching, sharing of frameworks, and leading communities of practice. Foster a culture grounded in scientific rigor, curiosity, modern engineering methods, and collaborative problem-solving. Influence bottlers, suppliers, and internal teams toward higher technical standards and modern process approaches. What We’re Looking For: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with 10+ years of hands‑on experience in process development or engineering in the food & beverage industry. Strong expertise in beverage process design, thermal/aseptic processing, equipment selection, scale‑up, and commercialization. Experience with digitalization tools: process simulation, modelling, digital twins, data analytics, predictive modelling, DOE. Proven ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues quickly and effectively using sound scientific principles. Strong collaboration and communication skills; ability to influence bottlers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams without authority. Language proficiency: Native or Business fluency in English & a local language Ability to travel 5–30% based on project needs.
