That’s why we also address food insecurity, youth leadership, and culturally competent care while working towards supporting safer streets and vibrant communities.Location: ADMIN-HQJob Summary: The SMH Psychiatrist On-Call diagnoses and treats patients with mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders. This position assesses patients’ psychiatric symptoms and medical conditions, gathers information on psychosocial history and onset of symptoms, develops a treatment plan, prescribes medications, and follows up. This position reports to the SMH Medical Director.Note: We are looking for candidates who can work 1 day per week. \nEssential Job FunctionsMedical/Psychiatric evaluation and medication treatment of persistently and severely mentally ill adult clients, and children/youth with mental health disorders, by funders’ standard of care protocolReview and approve clinical treatment plansWorking closely with behavioral health clinicians, case managers, and wellness program staff to ensure client care coordinationConsultation to staff regarding diagnosis, treatment, and other medical issues Provide coordinated and integrated care with Primary Care providersDocumenting all services performed using the agency’s electronic health records systemComplies with all Quality Assurance requirements Participating in case conferences, training sessions, peer reviews, utilization reviews, chart audits, quality assurance reviewsGeneral Agency DutiesFosters an environment that promotes trust and cooperation among clients and staff.Enforces clinic policies and procedures, including maintenance of client confidentiality under HIPAA privacy rules, to ensure that the principles of AHS are implemented.Plays an active role in planning organization-wide activities such as AHS general membership meetings, fundraisers, special clinic days, and other events.Participates in general membership meetings, fundraisers, and other public events, as required.Participates in outreach activities, agency advocacy, and serves on ad hoc committees, as requested.Attends AHS staff retreats and Board of Directors meetings, as required.Participates in agency-wide quality improvement program processes and performance improvement teams to ensure excellence in the quality of services provided across the agency.Minimum QualificationsMD degree completed residency and/or fellowshipPreferred QualificationsBoard-certified Adult, Adolescent, or Child Psychiatrist preferred.Experience with Electronic Health RecordsBilingual/bicultural in an Asian LanguageExperience with an underserved populationKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesExcellent verbal and written communication skills.Certifications/Licenses/RegistrationsValid DEA CertificateCurrent license to practice medicine in California with no disciplinary actionsPhysical & Work DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
