Come join our growing team in Seattle!The Role We're looking for a curious and detail-oriented Prompt Engineer Intern to join our engineering team during the semester. In this role, you'll help design, test, and optimize prompts for our backend AI agent that powers automated financial services and decision-making systems within the Grid platform. You'll create prompts that enable reliable, accurate automated financial operations.This is a hands-on technical role where you'll blend deep understanding of large language model behavior with systematic engineering practices to build prompts that deliver consistent, high-quality outputs for backend financial processing and web scraping. To this end, Grid's team members experience high levels of autonomy and ownership, and as a company we value curiosity, learning and growth.At Grid, you'll be surrounded by a team that is motivated, mission-driven and pragmatic.\nWhat you'll do:Design and optimize prompts for our backend AI agent that powers automated financial processing and decision-making systemsConduct rigorous experiments to evaluate prompt performance, measuring accuracy, consistency, and reliability metrics across different data inputsCollaborate with engineering and ML teams to implement prompt strategies within production backend systems and APIsDevelop comprehensive testing frameworks and maintain versioned prompt libraries with detailed performance documentationResearch advanced prompt engineering techniques and conduct statistical analysis on system outputs to optimize model behaviorWhat we're looking for:Currently pursuing a degree in Computer ScienceHands-on experience with large language models (GPT, Claude, etc.)Strong technical writing and analytical skills with attention to precision and systematic testing methodologiesDetail-oriented approach to documentation, performance measurement, and systematic experimentation in a fast-paced startup environmentAbility to work out of our Seattle officeWhat you'll gainDirect mentorship from experienced engineers and ML researchers with real-world experience building production AI systemsDeep technical understanding of prompt engineering for backend financial automation and exposure to enterprise-scale AI infrastructureExperience with performance optimization, testing frameworks, and AI system reliability in a production fintech environmentCompetitive internship compensation\n$35 - $50 an hour\nTo keep things simple, at Grid we're looking for people that want to change the world for the better and have the boldness to tackle complex problems with creative solutions.
