Position SummaryThe Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the day-to-day accounting operations of a fast-paced construction organization, while serving as a strategic partner to project management and operations teams. This role goes beyond traditional accounting oversight and plays a key role in strengthening financial processes, improving project cost visibility, and optimizing cash flow performance across multiple jobs.The ideal candidate has strong construction accounting experience, understands job cost structures, and thrives in a collaborative, deadline-driven environment.Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Operations & OversightManage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processesOversee general ledger accuracy and integrityReview and approve journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statementsEnsure compliance with GAAP and construction revenue recognition standardsSupervise AP, AR, and payroll functionsConstruction & Job Cost AccountingMonitor job cost tracking and ensure proper cost codingReview WIP schedules and support accurate percentage-of-completion reportingPartner with Project Managers to review job profitability and cost forecastsAnalyze committed costs, change orders, and subcontractor billingsAssist with job setup and cost structure improvementsCash Flow & Risk ManagementOversee billing cycles, progress billings, and lien waiver processesManage cash flow forecasting in coordination with operationsReview aging reports and support collections effortsMonitor retainage and ensure timely releaseProcess Improvement & SystemsEvaluate and improve accounting workflows and internal controlsIdentify automation opportunities within accounting systemsSupport ERP enhancements and reporting improvementsDevelop standardized procedures for job cost and project accountingLeadership & CollaborationSupervise and mentor accounting staffServe as liaison between accounting and project management teamsSupport audit preparation and external financial reportingAssist in budget preparation and financial planning activitiesQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required5–8+ years of accounting experience, with 3+ years in constructionStrong understanding of WIP reporting and percentage-of-completion accountingExperience with construction ERP systems (e.g., Sage 300 CRE, Viewpoint, Foundation, CMiC, etc.)Advanced Excel skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesKey CompetenciesOperational mindset with strong business acumenAbility to translate financial data for non-financial stakeholdersProcess-driven and detail-orientedStrong leadership and communication skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneouslyWhat Makes This Role DifferentGreater involvement with project teams and operational decision-makingStrong emphasis on process improvement and systems optimizationFocus on cash flow strategy and job profitability insightsOpportunity to shape and scale accounting infrastructure as the company grows\n\n$90,000 - $120,000 a year\n#GHJSS #LI-SL1
