Until is a moonshot company building a “pause button” for biology. Our near-term focus is organ-scale reversible cryopreservation: preserving donated organs at subzero temperatures without ice formation, then rewarming them uniformly for transplant. By solving this grand challenge, we’re laying the foundation for whole-body reversible cryopreservation, giving patients a bridge to future cures. To achieve our goal, we are assembling an interdisciplinary team to develop perfusion systems, cryoprotectant formulations, and vitrification and rewarming hardware. We envision a future where no transplantable organ is lost to logistics, and no terminal diagnosis is final because patients can safely wait for future medicine to arrive.About the RoleWe are seeking a skilled and motivated In-Vivo Neuroscientist to join our neurobiology team. This role centers on developing systematic approaches to stimulate and evaluate cross-regional brain circuits in the context of cardiac arrest and resuscitation. The scientist will be responsible for designing and executing strategies that integrate both stimulation and assessment of brain function, with the overarching goal of advancing recovery of consciousness and memory. We value creativity and curiosity, and provide strong support for innovative scientific exploration. This position offers the opportunity to pioneer new approaches and contribute to discoveries that drive both scientific understanding and translational progress.\nKey ResponsibilitesTranslate broad or ambiguous research questions into clear, actionable plans by defining key technical platforms and step-by-step implementation strategies.Apply a deep expertise in information processing in the brain, with a particular focus on circuits underlying consciousness and memory.Investigate cross-regional neural circuit function through the design and execution of experiments that leverage and integrate multiple recording and analysis modalities.Develop and execute strategies for neuronal circuit stimulation; evaluate functional outcomes and integrate findings into comprehensive brain evaluation and stimulation frameworks.QualificationsPh.D. in Neuroscience or a related field.Broad understanding of cross-regional neural circuit function, with the ability to connect circuit-level insights to behavior and cognition.Proven track record of owning the conception, strategy, and execution of complex research projects from ideation through delivery.Programming skills (python preferred).Experience in one or more of the following: Rodent surgery, Neuropixel electrophysiology, EEG, Fiber photometry, Calcium imaging, Optogenetics, or Closed-loop brain stimulation.BenefitsDirect impact in a moonshot company creating the future as an early team member.Generous medical, dental and vision insurance coverage.Flexible time off and paid holidays.Competitive compensation package, including salary and equity.Access to a 401(k) retirement savings plan.FSA and commuter benefits.Subsidized lunch daily.\n$120,000 - $180,000 a yearWhile this represents our expected range based on market data, final compensation will be determined based on your specific qualifications and may be outside this range. Please keep in mind that the equity portion of the offer is not included in this estimate.\nAs an equal opportunity employer, Until is committed to providing employment opportunities to all individuals. All applicants for positions at Until will be treated without regard to race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex, gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, age, marital status, veteran status, pregnancy, or any other basis prohibited by applicable law.
