About the Legal Team Legal partners across OpenAI to enable the responsible development, deployment, and governance of advanced AI systems. The team operates at the intersection of technology, regulation, commercial strategy, and enterprise risk—ensuring the company can move quickly while maintaining rigor, integrity, and sound judgment at global scale. Legal spans regulatory and policy matters, commercial and corporate transactions, product and research counseling, litigation, compliance, and broader enterprise risk management. We’re looking for an Admin Business Partner to provide high-trust operational and strategic support to senior leaders across Legal—enabling them to stay focused on advising the business, managing risk, and driving key cross-functional initiatives. About the Role The Administrative Business Partner will serve as a high-trust, strategic partner to senior Legal leaders, owning complex scheduling, driving operational cadence, and strengthening team workflows. This role requires strong judgment, independent execution, and the ability to anticipate needs in a fast-moving, high-stakes environment. The ideal candidate operates comfortably amid ambiguity and shifting priorities, brings structure to evolving workstreams, and helps scale executive and team operations in support of OpenAI’s mission to ensure AGI benefits humanity. This role is based in San Francisco. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees. In this role, you will: Build strong relationships across Legal and cross-functional partners, becoming a trusted partner to senior leaders and enabling smooth coordination on high-stakes work. Communicate clearly and efficiently, tailoring messages for audiences from internal executives to external counsel. Own high-volume calendars and priorities for multiple leaders, making smart tradeoffs and adapting quickly as priorities shift. Operate with discretion and independence, improving workflows, surfacing risks early, and handling sensitive and privileged information appropriately. You might thrive in this role if you have / are: 3+ years in an EA/ABP or similar role, ideally in a fast-paced, high-growth environment. Experience supporting multiple senior leaders with complex, cross-functional portfolios. Comfort working across Legal’s core areas: (1) AI policy, antitrust and international, (2) commercial and legal ops, and (3) product and research. Strong calendar management for high-stakes internal/external meetings (executives, outside counsel, vendors, partners). Strong execution and attention to detail: lightweight tracking systems, follow-through, and accurate output. Excellent communication, sound judgment, and high discretion (including privileged matters). Independent, collaborative, tool-fluent (Slack + Google Workspace), and steady in ambiguity.
