Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run. The heart of a spacecraft lies in its engine, and that's why we, at The Exploration Company, are dedicated to developing our own cutting-edge Propulsion Systems ensuring the highest level of efficiency and reliability in our space endeavors. We are seeking a talented System Mechanical Engineer to join our Propulsion Systems division. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for system level mechanical analysis and engine arrangement. Key Responsibilities : Build the mechanical models of the propulsive system, with the right level of complexity depending on the maturity and the goals of the study Support the mechanical analysis at subsystems level and ensure their coherence at engine level Support test campaigns to ensure mechanical feasibility Lead the arrangement of the different engine components considering the constraints on a vehicle, engine and subsystem level Define the mechanical load cases to be analyzed at the propulsive system components level based on the load cases provided by the spacecraft design team and from executed tests Contribute to the accommodation and connection of the engine to the launcher in collaboration with the vehicle design team What we would love to see from you: Advanced degree in mechanical engineering with strong knowledge in (thermo-)mechanical design and manufacturing and with a minimum of 5 years of related experience Hands-on experience developing hardware from concept to working prototypes is a plus Basic understanding of mechanical physics to make quick assessments and model checks for plausibility Experience with CAD software (Siemens NX is an asset) Proficiency in structural analysis software (Ansys, Hyperworks, Nastran) Experience in building simplified (thermo)-mechanical models in Python, C++ Experience in testing and modelling in a dynamic load environment Experience with additive manufactured materials is an asset Experience in creating manufacturing drawings Why you should join us!
