Software Engineer (Backend & AI Infrastructure) Location:  San Francisco, CA Hybrid | Full-time Compensation: $160K – $300K + Equity Our client is a venture-backed technology firm based in San Francisco that is redefining the global research industry through AI-powered user interviews. By leveraging advanced AI-moderated technology, the platform enables global enterprises to achieve deep qualitative insights at unprecedented speed and scale. Currently serving world-class brands across the technology and consumer sectors, our client is disrupting a $140B market by replacing slow, high-cost legacy services with high-performance automated solutions. Following a breakout year characterized by 8x growth, the organization recently secured a $30M Series B funding round led by top-tier Silicon Valley investors. The engineering team is currently scaling to support the rapid adoption of AI-moderated research as the new industry standard. This is a high-impact opportunity for a Backend Software Engineer to join a lean, elite team of 30 in San Francisco and take ownership of mission-critical infrastructure. Key Responsibilities Strategic Technical Leadership: Collaborate directly with the CTO and CEO to influence strategic technical decisions and the long-term product roadmap. System Architecture: Design, develop, and optimize backend services, robust APIs, and real-time data processing infrastructure. AI Implementation: Refine and implement in-house Large Language Model (LLM) integrations and proprietary real-time interview technology. Full-Cycle Ownership: Lead engineering projects from initial conception through production deployment, ensuring maximum scalability and reliability. Customer-Centric Development: Interface directly with users to gather feedback, identify pain points, and iterate on the core product to meet enterprise-grade requirements. Professional Experience: 3+ years of software engineering experience focused on building and maintaining production-grade backend systems. Technical Proficiency: Strong expertise in Python and Django , with a proven track record of building robust APIs. Data Management: Extensive knowledge of SQL databases, with a strong preference for PostgreSQL . Cloud Infrastructure: Professional experience deploying and managing backend services on AWS . Preferred Skills: Familiarity with WebRTC , real-time data streaming, or AI/ML infrastructure is highly desirable. Location: Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco for a hybrid work schedule.
