This role is pivotal in bridging the gap between aviation operations and cutting-edge technologies, especially Artificial Intelligence (AI) , to revolutionize the industry.   POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Data Operations Engineer at Valsoft designs, builds, and maintains data pipelines, storage solutions, and infrastructure to enable efficient data processing, analytics, and integrations. They focus on ETL/ELT workflows and data processing systems, ensuring clean, structured, and accessible data for analytics, reporting, and product features. As an integral part of the R&D team, they ensure that data is collected, stored, and processed in a way that meets the needs of the business and its customers. They participate in the maintenance and enhancement of mature legacy systems as well as development of new systems, products and features. They are responsible for the performance, reliability, and scalability of the data infrastructure, and they work to ensure that data is accurate, secure, and compliant with regulations and best practices. They are passionate about data, technology, and problem-solving, and they are excited to work with a team of talented engineers to build innovative products that help our customers succeed. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Data Operations Engineer will have heavy involvement in almost all aspects of our data intensive SaaS offerings, working alongside other R&D contributors. Ownership of data pipeline, ETL/ELT and analytics processes. Participate in database design, development & administration. Participate in backend application development, specifically all things SQL. Key contributor to query design and optimization across all areas of the technology stack. Lead the design and building of new data integrations & APIs. Handle day-to-day data issues, bugs, inquiries, studies and other projects as needed by our analyst team and customers.   REQUIRED/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Strong experience and enthusiasm for database design, data modeling, schema design, and data warehousing. Experience and enthusiasm for data pipeline development & ETL/ELT processes. Strong experience and enthusiasm for MySQL and PostgreSQL. MS SQL is a plus. Experience with or willingness to master Perl. You are self-driven and motivated with a desire to learn new skills and develop yourself and those around you. You love to tweak complex queries for performance gains. You are eager to learn mature systems and to own and be a good steward of legacy backend applications and technologies. You are interested in AI and how it can be applied to solve real world use cases through data. Experience with system administration of Linux is a plus. Experience with full stack web development, php, React, etc is a plus. Legally authorized to work in Ireland and can commute to the Dublin office.
