You are probably familiar with our best-known product, the hCaptcha security suite. Our approach is simple: low overhead, small teams, and rapid iteration. As a Senior Backend Engineer, Security Automation, you will design and implement systems that automate and improve key Security Operations Center (SOC) processes. Your work will enhance our capabilities in bot detection, fraud mitigation, phishing detection, and other security automation efforts, helping the team operate efficiently and effectively at scale. What you will do: Design, build, and maintain automation tools and services that support core SOC operations, managing the full lifecycle from requirements to deployment. Streamline workflows and improve security efficiency using modern technologies such as microservices, Kubernetes, Python, and message queues. Collaborate closely with security analysts and engineers to solve complex automation and operational challenges. Research emerging security and automation standards, identifying new technologies that strengthen our defenses and processes. Contribute to system reliability, observability, and scalability through thoughtful automation and process design. What we are looking for: 5+ years of experience in backend software development. Proficiency in Python and familiarity with microservice-based architectures. Deep understanding of programming best practices, design patterns, and testing methodologies. Experience writing secure code and applying OWASP security principles. Solid experience working with SQL databases. Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical teams. Familiarity with Docker and containerized development workflows. Nice to have: Hands-on experience with Kubernetes or other orchestration platforms. Familiarity with frontend technologies or frameworks. Experience participating in bug bounty programs or contributing to security research (for example, public CVEs). Understanding of browser and network security, modern web architecture, and web automation frameworks. Working knowledge of Linux environments.
