We are seeking an experienced Contract Bookkeeper with deep expertise in QuickBooks Enterprise to support our finance operations during a 6–9 month engagement, with strong potential for extension or conversion. This role is ideal for a highly organized, detail-oriented finance professional who is comfortable working independently within a fast-paced, creative, service-based environment. This position will play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting month-end and year-end close, and ensuring our books remain clean, current, and GAAP-compliant. The Bookkeeper will also assist in transitioning financial activity from our current outsourced accounting provider and provide ongoing reporting support to leadership. This is a hybrid role based in the Flatiron area of Manhattan, with up to three days per week in-office, depending on business needs. The schedule is full-time but may flex based on workload. Roles + Responsibilities: Manage day-to-day bookkeeping operations using QuickBooks Enterprise Support transition of accounting activities from outsourced provider Record and reconcile bank and credit card transactions Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes Prepare and distribute client invoices and track collections Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a monthly basis Maintain accuracy of the general ledger Assist with month-end and year-end close processes Track expenses by client, campaign, or project as applicable Prepare financial reports including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements Provide financial information and documentation to CFO, CPA, or tax preparer as needed Maintain organized and audit-ready digital financial records 7+ years of professional bookkeeping experience Strong hands-on expertise with QuickBooks Enterprise Experience supporting small businesses, agencies, or professional services organizations Solid understanding of GAAP bookkeeping principles High level of attention to detail and accuracy Ability to manage deadlines and work independently Strong written and verbal communication skills Experience with job costing or project-based accounting preferred Familiarity with payroll coordination and sales tax filings preferred Prior contract or fractional bookkeeping experience preferred
