Whether you want to take a refreshing plunge, play in the sand, or bask in the sun, this unparalleled seaside experience has provided fun and lasting memories for generations. Our seasonal team members are the driving force for creating a safe, mission driven and memorable experience for all Crane Estate visitors.    The Role : As a Lifeguard at Crane Beach, you are on duty daily from Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day. You will provide a safe environment to the patrons at Crane Beach, both in the water and out. You will keep vigilant supervision over your respective duty station and must have the ability to act professionally and promptly in dangerous or life-threatening situations.  Specifically, you’ll: Provide a supervised and safe swimming area within the guarded section of the beach.  Ensure patrons follow posted rules and regulations.  Provide emergency care to patrons in the swim area and other sections of the property.  Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.  Maintain all safety equipment, vehicles and supplies.  Participate in daily workouts and regular training.  This is a limited-term, non-exempt position [16-40hrs/wk] reporting directly to the Crane Beach Public Safety Manager.    What You’ll Need: Skills and Experience: Red Cross or YMCA lifeguard training, Waterfront Certification recommended. Other programs will be considered on a case-by-case basis.  Current certifications in O2, CPR for the Professional rescuer, AED and first responder First Aid.  Ability to maintain concentration for long periods of time, without getting distracted, while monitoring changing patron and environmental conditions.  Interact with the public in a way that balances both the authority of your role as a lifeguard, and as a representative of TTOR.  Ability to run one mile in a sandy environment.  Ability to swim one-quarter mile in ocean conditions (this might include rough water and/or seasonably cold water).  Eligibility Criteria: Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.  Must be able to work in variable outdoor weather and water conditions throughout the summer.  Must be able to assist with putting a boat into and out of an ocean surf.    Some light lifting may be required.    Driving an ATV or Gator may be required at times.  Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.  A valid driver’s license, as well as a satisfactory driving record as outlined in The Trustees’ driving policy. [if needed]  A satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check.  Don’t quite have all the skills and experience listed above? We still want to hear from you! Research shows that historically marginalized groups are less likely to apply if they do not meet every single requirement. We are committed to building a diverse team and encourage you to apply even if you are missing some of the skills and experience above. Questions? Contact our People team at people@thetrustees.org !
