Position:  Sales Tax & Compliance Specialist Location:  100% remote | Global Schedule:  Monday to Friday | 8:00am to 5:00pm PST Contract:  Long term | Independent Contractor Agreement About the client Our client is a New York–based company that builds and manages leading fashion and apparel brands, handling everything from design and sourcing to production and distribution. With over 40 years in the industry, the team blends creativity, innovation, and strong operational expertise to grow brands that people love. About the Role We’re looking for a Sales Tax & Compliance Specialist to support a fast-growing U.S. company with multi-state sales tax setup and ongoing compliance. You’ll handle everything from registering new entities in each state to filing for seller’s permits and ensuring accurate tax collection and remittance across jurisdictions. Responsibilities Register the company for sales tax and seller’s permits in all required U.S. states Coordinate with accounting to create and maintain state-specific tax accounts Manage multi-state filings for sales and use tax, ensuring deadlines are met Track nexus requirements and maintain compliance as the business expands Reconcile monthly and quarterly tax reports with internal accounting records Liaise with state agencies regarding applications, renewals, and compliance issues Maintain organized records and process documentation across all states Qualifications 2+ years of experience with U.S. state tax registration, filings, or compliance Background in accounting, tax operations, or finance (preferred in eCommerce or SaaS) Familiar with tools like Avalara, TaxJar, or similar platforms Strong written and spoken English — able to communicate directly with U.S. tax agencies Highly detail-oriented and organized — this role requires tracking dozens of moving parts Proactive, independent, and comfortable working remotely with minimal supervision
