Job Summary The Data Specialist role is primarily to lead and execute the extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of customer data into our platform. This role is responsible for ensuring data accuracy, integrity, and completeness, working closely with customers and product teams. The role also requires leading data transformations or updates for other initiatives, including projects beyond standard customer data migrations. Essential Functions Analyse source data from customer systems to understand structure, quality, and dependencies Map source data fields to the target system, documenting transformation rules and assumptions Write, test, and maintain scripts to extract, transform, and load data (ETL) Validate migrated data for accuracy, completeness, and consistency using relevant methods such as regulatory submission comparisons, actuary report comparisons, etc.  Troubleshoot and resolve data issues during and after migration Collaborate with product and implementation teams, as well as customers, to align migrations with system requirements and resolve issues Assist with other data transformation tasks within the organisation such as account merges, data imports, data updates or other related initiatives Assist with any other technical aspects of projects as required, such as connectivity, etc Create, maintain and improve documentation for migration or transformation processes, such as scripts, process flows, etc. Identify and execute opportunities for improvements or automation on migration processes Assist with any knowledge transfer or learning, to other team members, as required   Competencies ·       Adaptability - The ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment ·       Positive Interactions – You have a positive attitude with strong interpersonal, verbal and free written communication skills ·       Collaboration – the ability to work with colleagues to meet customer needs ·       Problem Solving – the ability to listen to customers and other team members, and patiently troubleshoot challenges ·       Innovation – you are driven; no one needs to push you ·       Customer Focused – provide timely and clear communication, deliver to agreed timelines and provide updates before required to. Qualifications and Experience ·       Bachelor's degree in a technical field (e.g. Computer Science, Information Systems) preferred or an equivalent combination of education and relatable work experience ·       Strong SQL skills and experience working with relational databases ·       Understanding of data modelling, schemas, and data normalisation ·       Experience working with CSV, XML or flat files ·       Experience and desire to work with customers or client-facing teams ·       Experience performing data migrations or data transformations ·       Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality ·       Ability to work independently while managing multiple migrations or projects ·       Clear communication skills, especially when helping articulate issues or requirements
