The Student Care Coordinator supports the holistic well-being and success of all Elmhurst University students by providing direct case management, proactive wellness programming, and cultural and demographic specific responsive care. Reporting to the Director of Student Support Services and Intervention, the Coordinator assists students experiencing challenges related to mental health, social adjustment, academic stress, financial hardship, and other personal concerns. In addition to individualized support, this position develops and implements culturally relevant and inclusive student wellness programming that fosters belonging, resilience, and engagement across campus. The Student Care Coordinator works collaboratively with campus and community partners to ensure students have access to resources that promote their academic and personal success. POSITION STATUS: Exempt SALARY RANGE: $48,000-53,000 This is the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary offered will depend on a candidate's experience and education, and departmental budget. Responsibilities Case Management (50%) Provides case management for students of concern, including outreach, assessment, intervention, and follow-up care. Assists referred students in accessing university and community resources related to academics, counseling, food insecurity, housing, financial hardship, or physical well-being. Maintains accurate, confidential documentation of student interactions and interventions using appropriate reporting systems. Participates as an active member of the University’s C.A.R.E. (Campus Advocacy, Response, Evaluation) Team, contributing to case discussions and follow-up planning. Coordinates care transitions between campus services and external providers (e.g., mental health, housing, or medical). Communicates appropriately with faculty, staff, and families within the parameters of FERPA to ensure student support and continuity of care. Culturally Relevant Programming & Student Wellness (30%) Develops and implements programs, workshops, and initiatives that address wellness, belonging, identity, and resilience through a culturally inclusive lens. Collaborates with departments such as the Wellness Center, Office of Belonging & Inclusion, and Student Involvement to promote holistic student wellness. Assists and engages with campaigns and events on topics such as mental health awareness, stress management, financial wellness, and self-care. Gathers and assesses student feedback to ensure programming meets the diverse needs of Elmhurst’s student body.  Education, Outreach, and Collaboration (20%) Sustains collaborative partnerships with academic and co-curricular areas to embed well-being and belonging across the student experience. Supports the Director of Student Support Services and Intervention in managing Bluejay Nest requests and identifying student basic needs trends. Tracks retention of students engaging with Student Support Services and Intervention. Other Responsibilities Demonstrates a strong commitment to continuous improvement.  Supports the mission, vision, and values of Elmhurst University.  Performs other duties as assigned.  Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Higher Education, Psychology, or a related field. Demonstrated experience providing case management, student support, or crisis response in a higher education, social service, or related setting. Ability to manage a significant caseload, prioritize demands, and meet multiple deadlines. Strong commitment to culturally responsive care that recognizes and supports students’ diverse identities and backgrounds. Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment. Willingness to work flexible hours, including limited evenings and weekends as needed. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Student Affairs, Counseling, Social Work, or a related discipline. Experience in higher education case management, behavioral intervention, or student care. Experience designing, facilitating, or assessing culturally relevant wellness and student engagement programs. Familiarity with Maxient or comparable student support and case management systems. Working knowledge of FERPA, Title IX, the Clery Act, and other applicable regulations. Bilingual proficiency. Working Conditions/Physical Requirements The essential functions of this position are primarily performed in an indoor setting with limited exposure to outdoor weather conditions. Work is often sedentary in nature and requires remaining in a stationary position for extended periods. Required abilities include speaking and hearing for in-person and virtual communication, using close and distance vision when reading documents or viewing screens, and performing tasks with repetitive fine motor skills. Work may require occasional lifting, bending, carrying, or otherwise moving objects weighing up to 15 pounds.
