Job Description To plan, design and implement scalable and robust data models and physical data models and ensure effective movement, collection, integration, storage and provisioning of data to meet business objectives through sound understanding of business unit requirements and frequent collaboration with relevant stakeholders (such as Enterprise Architecture, Database and Solution Architects, Business Intelligence Developers, Data Scientists and Product Owners, etc.) Are You Someone Who Can: Financial Management Contribute to Budget Planning and Management: Provide input into the annual and project budgets, ensuring that budget usage is tracked and reported accurately to reflect delivery of planned work within agreed financial parameters. Control Expenditure and Drive Cost Reduction: Monitor and manage expenses, proactively identifying process improvements to contain and reduce costs. Data Engineering Design and Implement ETL Processes: Create, test, and deploy robust ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) workflows to load, analyse, and archive customer transactional data in the Data Eco System. Automate Data Pipelines and Task Scheduling: Implement frameworks and system components for automated deployments and efficient task scheduling. Data Quality Assurance: Perform regular data quality assessments, introduce automated monitors and alerts, and test data integrity from databases to ensure best practices and technologies are applied. Develop and Maintain Data Marts and Databases: Oversee the physical design and ongoing maintenance of data marts and databases, ensuring performance and scalability. Support Advanced Analytics: Prepare and provision high-quality data for advanced analytical modelling by data scientists, ensuring timely and secure access. Integrate and Acquire Data from Multiple Sources: Collect, integrate, and validate data from source systems into the enterprise data warehouse, adhering to data platform standards. Enhance Data Platform and Infrastructure: Propose and build scalable infrastructure to support high volumes of data delivery, contributing to solution architecture and innovation. Continuous Technology Review: Regularly assess and propose updates to the data technology stack and emerging tools to support evolving business needs. Compliance and Governance Ensure Statutory and Policy Compliance: Maintain compliance with all relevant statutory, legislative, policy, and governance requirements within area of accountability. Implement Governance Standards: Ensure the consistent application of organisational policies, governance, and best practice standards across the business. Risk Management: Develop an understanding of risks and risk management approaches, contributing to the development and implementation of governance and compliance procedures. Audit and Continuous Improvement: Review systems and procedures in response to audit findings and industry changes, ensuring ongoing compliance and improvement. Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement Build Cross-Functional Relationships: Establish and nurture effective working relationships across teams and functional lines to enhance delivery, collaboration, and innovation. Stakeholder Requirement Translation: Engage with end users, clients, and senior management to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions. Bridge Data, Business, and Product Functions: Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to align data engineering initiatives with business use cases, ensuring all parties’ data needs are addressed. Contribute to Architecture and Solution Forums: Participate in solution design and architecture discussions, presenting technology solutions to senior leadership and influencing platform transformation. Support Project Roll-Out and Team Members: Provide ongoing support for project implementation and assist team members in overcoming technical challenges. Engage in Specialist Forums and Networking: Participate in specialist risk forums and professional networks to stay abreast of industry trends. Training, Knowledge Sharing, and Continuous Improvement Employee Education and Training: Train relevant employees on accessing and utilizing the Data Eco System, ensuring they can fully leverage its capabilities for their roles. Grow Technical Knowledge Platform: Contribute to the development and maintenance of an online technical knowledge base, identifying and documenting best practices and guidelines for tool usage. Promote Collaboration and Continuous Learning: Develop, encourage, and nurture collaborative relationships within area of specialization, fostering an environment of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing. Regular Review and Integration of Emerging Trends: Proactively monitor, research, and integrate emerging industry trends and technologies to ensure responsibilities remain current and aligned with best practices. You Will Be an Ideal Candidate If You Required: Bachelor’s Degree Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent Preferred: Honours/Master’s Degree Preferred: Certified Data Engineer or Certified Professional certification (AWS,GCP, Microsoft Azure, Snowflake and Databricks) 6-8 years’ experience in Data Management, Maintenance and Security preferable within a data environment, of which 3 to 4 years in a senior role within Financial Services, FMCG or Telecommunications Strong skills in stakeholder management, communication, problem-solving and advocating for ethical use of data and fairness Demonstrated history of successes within advanced analytics teams and developing industry-leading analytical capabilities. Skilled in generating business value through comprehensive data preparation and analysis Proven proficiency in data management, advanced analytics, artificial intelligence, technology platforms, and awareness of emerging industry trends Promotes effective teamwork and collaboration between global and regional teams to accomplish common objectives Has a strong interest in advanced analytics and technology, with a passion for leveraging tech-driven solutions Shows a keen interest in learning about emerging technologies, applications, and creative solutions, approaching each with curiosity and enthusiasm Experienced with data architecture landscape translation of physical and logical techniques Proficient in building modern data analytics solutions using platforms such as AWS Redshift Azure Synapse, GCP Big Query and Apache Spark, efficiently delivering actionable insights from multi-terabyte data sets.
