Job Description We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Legal Advisor to join our Corporate Legal team. This senior role will focus on advising on strategic corporate transactions and commercial partnerships, with a particular emphasis on the banking, fintech and technology sector. The successful candidate will provide expert legal guidance, assess risk, and support complex transactions that drive the organization’s growth and innovation. The successful candidate will be accountable for the end-to-end advisory, drafting and execution of the underlying agreements to the strategic transactions and commercial partnerships. In addition, the Legal Advisor is to provide leadership in the delivery of reliable, accurate, timely and well-informed advice to the Executive Leadership Team on legal issues and the potential legal implications of various corporate strategies and business initiatives and projects. The Legal Advisor provides in context specialist sound legal advice to the business on complex legal matters relating to business products and services and the execution of the activities related to this, with the intention of enabling strategic outcomes for the business area and the effective and efficient management of legal risk. The Legal Advisor at this level offers guidance and oversight to both junior and senior legal advisors. Partnerships & Strategic Alliances: Advise on potential commercial partnerships, joint ventures, and collaborations, particularly within fintech and technology ecosystems. Provide strategic input on partnership structuring to optimise commercial outcomes while mitigating legal risk Assess legal and regulatory implications of partnership models, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and industry standards. Support business teams in drafting, negotiating and finalizing partnership agreements and related technology agreements. Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A): Advise on all legal aspects of M&A transactions, including structuring, due diligence, negotiation, and execution. Draft, review, and negotiate transaction documents (share purchase agreements, joint venture agreements, shareholder agreements, etc.). Provide strategic input on deal structuring to optimize commercial outcomes while mitigating legal risks. ] Risk Assessment & Compliance: Identify, evaluate, and mitigate legal risks associated with technology-driven business models and fintech clients. Ensure compliance with corporate governance, regulatory frameworks, and industry-specific requirements. Provide guidance on cross-border transactions and regulatory considerations. Strategic Legal Enablement Collaborate with business and product teams to enable innovation in payments while managing legal risk. Contribute to the design of new payments products and services, ensuring legal compliance from inception through to launch. Participate in strategic decision-making forums, offering legal insight that supports commercial and operational objectives. Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate closely with senior executives, business development teams, and external counsel. Act as a trusted advisor to leadership, providing clear, commercially pragmatic legal advice. Lead internal workshops or training sessions to build awareness of legal and regulatory issues in  partnerships and M&A. Mentorship & Capability Building Provide guidance and mentorship to junior legal advisors and peers Contribute to the development of legal training materials and knowledge-sharing initiatives. Promote a culture of continuous learning and legal excellence. Technology & Innovation Enablement Leverage legal technology and digital tools to enhance advisory delivery, document management, and legal operations.
