The bank is committed in incorporating Shared Value and Principles for Responsible Banking to drive the key strategic goals and other areas of priority in sustainability around three main pillars: 1) Our products and services that are launched to customers. 2) Our way of doing business and the decisions we take internally in the way we do business 3) Our impact in the community To support the bank ESG’s agenda, the role-holder will drive and/or oversee the implementation of the environmental and Social Sustainability initiatives and Framework across the bank. The role holder will also support the bank in putting in place the appropriate framework to measure the progress being made in ESG. The ideal candidate should be self-driven team player, knowledgeable and up to date on the current trends in ESG framework and standards. He/she will need to have good planning and organising skills and able to shape and lead the implementation of sustainability projects with different teams in the bank in adherence with regulatory requirements. Job Description Development and implementation of the bank’s ESG strategy. Remain abreast of local and global trends in ESG by conducting on an ongoing basis required research on what other companies in the sector and more broadly are doing to inform the bank on best practices that can be adopted and learnings from other companies.   Work with the different business segments to help them identify ensure that their deliverables are aligned with the defined strategy with regards to ESG. Working closely with the CSR manager to ensure that all CSR initiatives are aligned with the ESG strategy, and their impact measured and reflected in the bank’s scorecard and reports. Coordinating implementation on key deliverables under the ESG bank’s strategy and enhance awareness on ESG among colleagues. Drive the implementation of agreed projects under the ESG strategy in collaboration with the existing workstreams and where relevant directly with the different business units Identify the Bank’s sustainability material issues and support in formulating business solutions that will promote environmentally friendly practices, positive social impact, and good governance. Report progress to the management on a defined and frequency (at least monthly) process of Sustainability business measures and KPIs to be developed in collaboration with all business units. Drive internal education and awareness of sustainability/Role in society country priorities and issues to embed the culture of sustainable corporate behaviours within the bank and. Facilitate workshops, training, and awareness sessions for colleagues on ESG and the relevant processes Ensure effective project management and oversight for key sustainability projects. Ensure close collaboration and support to the business teams in all sustainability initiatives. Champion the Business integration on sustainability: By feeding sustainability risks and opportunities into their sector reviews and support the Reputational risk team with their annual review of ESG policies. Ensure the effective implementation of agreed KPI’s: To support the success of ESG initiatives. Monitor emerging environmental and social risks and trends and develop (in combination with Risk and Finance) a systematic approach for early identification of emerging risks and align our projects accordingly. Measure of progress and impact Developing an appropriate ESG scorecard for the bank aligned with the UN Sustainability goals to set the benchmark and measure progress on our ESG agenda Setting the appropriate framework to evaluate the impact of projects implemented within the ESG strategy and any other group or external reports such as/not limited to UN ESG report and Absa group reports (as required). Provide support to ESG workstream leads, business units CSR manager in developing ways to measure impact of initiatives implemented. Establish (where relevant) partnerships that can help scale up our execution of our ESG agenda and enhance our strategic impact. Work in close collaboration with the communication unit in MCR to develop and implement a comprehensive internal and external communications plan to enhance the brand connection through a positioning of Absa Mauritius as a force for good through projects implemented. Governance and Control Ensure adherence to governance and compliance to Absa group policies. Support in defining the ESG budget, manage same, ensuring a close follow up on spend monitoring against budgets, ensuring strict adherence to the sourcing and procurement frameworks. Identify areas for process improvement and recommend ways to increase functional effectiveness and operational efficiencies. Ensure due diligence is done for all ESG projects (as required). Education Further Education and Training Certificate (FETC): Business, Commerce and Management Studies (Required)
