Our ambition is to build technology that equips more people with the power to reach, captivate, and inspire audiences.Learn more at www.heygen.com.  Visit our Mission and Culture doc here.  The Opportunity We’re seeking an experienced and passionate software engineer to collaborate with founders closely to drive our most high potential innovation - LiveAvatar- the visual interface of realtime AI solutions powered by the most cutting-edge AI from HeyGen that is revolutionizing various use cases including online education, learning and development, customer support, sales and so on.  As one of the founding engineers, you will start from going to customers and partners with founders and solving technical challenges with product engineering, infra and research teams, to planning and delivering a world class product experience and setting the standard for the next generation of softwares. Key Responsibilities Drive Product Strategy & Technical Execution: Partner directly with founders to translate deep customer insights into high-impact technical solutions that accelerate business growth. Architect Real-Time AI Experiences: Lead cross-functional collaboration with research and infra teams to build cutting-edge, interactive next-gen avatar experiences and low-latency streaming features. Own Core Backend & Scalability: Take full ownership of mission-critical backend systems, shaping the architecture to ensure high availability, performance, and seamless vendor integrations. Optimize Developer & Buyer Journeys: Design and refine essential platform features, including API integrations, team access controls, and pricing/credit systems to enhance the end-to-end user experience. Ensure System Reliability & Excellence: Rapidly master the full tech stack to triage complex issues, ensuring a stable, high-performance environment across all production surfaces. Qualifications 5+ years of hands-on backend engineering experience, with a proven track record of delivering production systems at scale. Deep expertise in backend development using languages such as Node.js, Python, or Go, and strong experience building on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or similar) to deliver smooth web-based product experience to customers.. Solid understanding of real-time and distributed systems, including WebRTC, streaming architectures, and multi-server workflows. Experience deploying AI-powered models into production environments, especially in areas such as LLM, TTS, STT/ASR, etc. Highly results-oriented, with a track record of strong execution and high output in fast-paced startup settings. Bonus Proven experience building and scaling real-time interactive systems such as voice/video chat, live customer support platforms, or virtual agents. Strong empathy for developers and end users, passionate about smoothing out the friction between AI technology and our target audience using web or API as bridges.
