Benefits Eligible Full-Time Benefit Eligible Work Shift Day - 8 Hour or less Shift (United States of America) Department 6343 Administration-KHMH Responsible for 24/7 oversight and management of crisis intervention, assessment and referral services for persons with psychiatric disorders and their families. Also responsible for coordination and management of daily operations for mental health social work staff to facilitate a therapeutic treatment environment, cost-effective and timely discharge planning, and coordination of aftercare services with community partners and referral sources. Demonstrates high-level leadership accountability in assuring staff competency, financial responsibility, as well as enhancing Kaweah Health's mission and vision to achieve strategic priorities. 63 bed Mental Health Hospital. Patients are involuntary admits with chronic mental health concerns. Opening a new Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit with a census of 12. QUALIFICATIONS License /Certification Required: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (LMFT) HeartSaver AED Kaweah Health approved crisis intervention training within 60 days of hire/transfer. Experience Required: Three years of clinical experience as an LCSW/LMFT in a health care setting. Preferred: Supervisory experience Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Excellent written and oral communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills, critical thinking and creative problem solving.   JOB RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of: Joint Commission standards California Board of Behavioral Sciences professional practice statutes and regulations Applicable federal and state guidelines and regulations, including HIPAA California Mental Health Laws. National Association of Social Workers Standards for Social Work Practice in Health Care Settings Code of Ethics of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Advanced Social Work Practice Competencies in Mental Health Recovery Policies and procedures for areas supervised. Leads quality of care and performance improvement activities in areas of supervision: Organizes clinical care and service in areas supervised. Demonstrates and utilizes expert knowledge and skills in areas of practice; assists staff with clinical assessment and decision-making. Responds to unexpected staff shortages by maximizing available resources and assisting staff in prioritization of workflow. Understands principles of utilization and case management; ensures clinical care needs of those we serve are met in timely manner and that care is coordinated across the continuum of services and sites. Coordinates and participates in multidisciplinary treatment team meetings and discharge planning rounds. Demonstrates awareness of needs and preferences of medical staff and provides excellent customer service and/or service recovery, as needed. Monitors required documentation to ensure adequacy of clinical information and compliance with regulatory standards. Analyzes patient experience feedback, utilizing data to drive workflow and practice improvements. Assesses and documents competency of each staff member hired for areas supervised. Collaborates with clinical educator and other organization resources on development and implementation of orientation plan for new staff. Performs staff evaluations, at least annually; completes performance appraisals within 14 days of due date. Identifies performance or education issues through observation, monitoring clinical outcomes and processes, and promptly communicates improvement opportunities / concerns to staff member(s). Utilizes research findings and best practice evidence in development of policies, procedures, and practice guidelines for areas supervised; shares research information with others. Assesses float or temporary staff and determines minimal competencies required for areas supervised. Utilizes human resource policies and procedures to ensure organization behavioral standards are met; consults with human resource leadership, as needed. Enhances professional growth and maintains awareness of current industry trends, legislation or research that may impact department and organization. Participates in survey readiness activities. Investigates and responds to unusual occurrence events through organization reporting system. Provides adequate staff resources for delivery of safe, high-quality care: Oversees staffing and scheduling to meet needs of population served and budgeted census. Interviews and hires new employees. Accountable for employee engagement, including attraction and appreciation of staff. Meets with staff at regular intervals to facilitate communication and enhance relationships. Role models expectation of staff participation in mental health service line project teams and safety initiatives (i.e., CUSP). Contributes to staff development by ensuring continuing education and in-services are available to staff. Facilitates supervision of hours necessary for non-licensed staff to meet licensure requirements. Participates in cost center budget preparation. Monitors and maintains cost center budget to meet financial goals. Communicates effectively with internal and external key stakeholders: Seeks and listens to feedback from key stakeholders: persons served and families, medical staff, residents, employees, other Kaweah Health leaders/staff, community partners and referral sources. In collaboration with mental health director and leadership team, actively participates in meetings and projects. Responds promptly to communication and requests for consultation or information. Participates in program planning; identifies gaps in services and programs, making recommendations for meeting community needs. Coordinates clinical care and service between departments and disciplines. Maintains open communication and sponsors relationship-building activities with Tulare County Mental Health, Tulare County Board of Supervisors, other community partners and referral sources. Utilizes the following to guide practice: NASW Standards for Social Work Practice in Health Care Settings, NASW Code of Ethics, California Mental Health Law, Advanced Social Work Practice Competencies in Mental Health Recovery. Ensures decisions and actions on behalf of persons served and staff are grounded in national standards and ethics code published by National Association of Social Workers (NASW). Maintains confidentiality within legal and regulatory parameters. Advocates for persons served; mentors and coaches staff in advocacy. Role models nonjudgmental and nondiscriminatory clinical care, preserving individual autonomy, dignity and rights. Oversees staff training and designation to perform involuntary commitment assessments and documentation.   Additional Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area. Knowledgeable of growth and development for all patient/family cultural, linguistic, spiritual, gender, and age specific needs. Able to effectively communicate and care for patient and family as reflected in the Plan of Provision of Care.
