Job Title Student Hourly Assistant - Project Coordination, Studio Operations and Community Partnership Agency Prairie View A&M University Department School Of Architecture Proposed Minimum Salary $12.50 hourly Job Location Prairie View, Texas Job Type Student Worker Job Description The Architecture Student Assistant supports the day-to-day coordination of studio and department initiatives by organizing architectural drawings and project documentation, assisting with project management and student team coordination, and serving as a liaison between faculty, students, and community partners. This role also helps plan and execute events such as invited lectures, site visits, and academic trips. Job Responsibilities: Organize and maintain architectural drawings, graphics, and project files (digital and/or physical). Support consistent file naming, folder structures, and version control across projects. Assist with preparing drawing sets, presentations, and deliverables for reviews, meetings, and community partners. Maintain archives of studio and department projects for future reference and publication Support faculty-led projects by tracking tasks, deadlines, and deliverables. Help manage undergraduate student teams by coordinating schedules, assigning tasks as directed, and following up on progress. Support coordination of resources needed for student work (printing, model shop access, room reservations, etc.). Communicate with community leaders and external partners to coordinate meetings, site visits, and collaborative activities. Help connect community partners with architecture students and faculty based on project needs and interests. Draft professional emails and meeting agendas, and prepare brief summaries after meetings. Support relationship management by maintaining contact lists and tracking partner engagement. Assist in organizing invited lectures, workshops, juries, exhibitions, and community meetings. Coordinate logistics for trips and site visits (itineraries, sign-ups, permissions, transportation planning, and reminders). Support event promotion (flyers, announcements, sign-in sheets, and documentation). Assist with day-of event setup and coordination (AV, room setup, guest support). Required Education and Experience: Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done. Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA Sophomore level or above No prior experience necessary For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least three (3) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours or nine (9) graduate semester hours for the upcoming fall term. Preferred Education & Experience Current architecture student (undergraduate). Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Professional communication skills (email, scheduling, coordination). Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Comfortable working with teams and supporting peer coordination Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Familiarity with drawing and presentation workflows (PDF sets, plotting/printing). Basic experience with tools such as Adobe (InDesign/Illustrator), Microsoft Office, and file management systems. Experience coordinating events or leading student groups. Interest in community engagement and public-facing work. AutoCAD / Revit / Rhino. Canva or Adobe for simple event graphics.
