Job Title Student Hourly Assistant - Digital Media Arts (DGMA) Agency Prairie View A&M University Department School Of Architecture Proposed Minimum Salary $12.50 hourly Job Location Prairie View, Texas Job Type Student Worker Job Description The undergraduate research assistant will support the development and testing of industry-based AI workflows and pipelines for DGMA. This role involves evaluating prototype AI tools, testing integration pathways in 3D and interactive media courses, and documenting usability, reliability of the test pipelines. The student will work closely with the hiring faculty and project team to ensure that tools align with objectives and industry-standard practices. Job Responsibilities: Test industry based AI-enabled pipelines and workflows (e.g. asset-generation models, python for Houdini modeling). Evaluate compatibility with industry software including Houdini, Unreal Engine, and Unity when needed. Document bugs, usability challenges, and performance benchmarks, and propose improvement Assist in preparing documenting materials, reports, and small data summaries for faculty and interdisciplinary collaborators. Participate in weekly scrum-style meetings to report progress, identify barriers, and plan next steps. Maintain organized research logs, version-controlled project files, and testing artifacts. Required Education and Experience: Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done. Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA Sophomore level or above No prior experience necessary For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least three (3) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours or nine (9) graduate semester hours for the upcoming fall term. Preferred Education & Experience Sophomore /Junior DGMA major with strong interest in 3D, interactive media, and emerging technologies. Some experience in 3D modeling using Maya, Blender, or comparable tools. Some familiarity with procedural workflows in Houdini, or willingness to learn. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Willingness to learn programming languages (e.g., Python, VEX, C#, or Blueprint logic). Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team. Strong written communication skills for documenting test results.
