As a part-time Library Assistant for our Virtual Branch, you will provide routine customer service, service routing, and clerical work for the library. Proud to Offer Work with a greater purpose Opportunities for growth and development within Maricopa County Exceptional work-life balance Ability to gain experience in a library setting Learn more at Work With Us | Maricopa County, AZ We Require Two years of customer service experience High school diploma or GED Post-secondary education may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis We Also Value Experience with library-related automation systems, such as Polaris ILS Experience with information retrieval from library-related databases Experience working in a public library Experience assisting customers with online account payments and account management Bilingual skills in Spanish and English Job Contributions Assembles, disperses, organizes, and cleans programming kits and rotational processing of county-wide resource sharing services between public libraries Resolves customer concerns by phone, or by e-mail/online. Refers customer concerns to the appropriate staff member or supervisor as necessary Informs customers of their account status and answers questions as needed Answers basic reference questions and directional questions from customers. Assists customers from every library in the Maricopa County Library District Monitor requests and communicate with programming staff at all Maricopa County Library District Libraries and other libraries in the county to ensure their programs are successful Assists customers with the use of a self-service online payment system Issues, verifies, and renews library cards for customers Working Conditions Library environment requiring evening and weekend availability Ability to cover shifts at nearby library branches Ability to lift up to 20 pounds floor-to-waist; lift up to 5 pounds waist-to-shoulder, lift 1 pound shoulder-to-overhead, carry up to 10 pounds a distance of up to 50 feet, and push/pull up to 50 pounds a distance of 100 feet Selection Procedure Only the most qualified candidates will be considered Consideration will only be given to candidates who submit online applications Candidates will be contacted primarily through email and their Workday online application profile Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive Maricopa County is an equal opportunity employer.
