This role: SharkNinja is looking for a highly motivated Noise and Vibrations Co-Op to join the team to enable us to create a new generation of innovative products across our Shark & Ninja ranges. This team member will participate in supporting product teams in evaluating and analyzing noise and vibration issues in new and innovative products, as well as designing and offering solutions for creating 5-star, quality sounding products. We’re seeking a strong noise and vibrations engineer co-op with a passion for sound quality and an eagerness to make meaningful impacts in people’s lives.  Here are some of the exciting things you’ll get to do:  Assist in acoustic and vibrational testing of a wide variety of consumer products Analyze acoustic and vibration frequency spectra to identify and localize noise sources  Work within our multi-disciplinary product development teams to create meaningful sound power and sound quality improvements Integrate with other engineering and product development teams to help review designs and offer insights into noise performance Design, implement, build prototypes, and test solutions to various noise and vibration issues  Work within the R&D team to lead the research of novel noise reduction and control techniques Be naturally curious and relentlessly driven to find better solutions to everyday problems Demonstrate integrity and courage in the way you work, breaking the mold isn’t easy Key Attributes & Skills: Education: Current student in their third year or beyond of a bachelor's program, or currently enrolled in a master’s program Must be able to work a full-time, 40-hour-per-week schedule with 5 days per week onsite in Needham, MA Undertaking a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Acoustics Engineering, or similar Knowledge of mechanical engineering, basic physical acoustics, psychoacoustic, and noise control principles  Understanding of vibrating systems and how modifications of different parameters affect the resulting response A natural and effective communicator capable of reducing abstract concepts to reality Solid analytical skills, attention to detail, and relentless drive to identify potential problems and take responsibility for their resolution Intellectual curiosity and creativity, strong first principles thinking, positive can-do attitude, and proven ability to deliver robust, elegant, and innovative solutions to complex design challenges Willingness to roll up sleeves and dive into hands-on development and testing workstreams Ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical colleagues clearly, effectively, and concisely. Comfortable multitasking and responding quickly to shifting priorities without losing sight of longer-term projects Is passionate about acoustics and improving consumer noise experience with our products Has exposure to a CAD program (ideally SolidWorks or Creo) and 3D printing/laser cutting Experience with hands-on prototype development in plastic and metal including using basic machine shop tools.
