Your Role  As a Senior Fullstack Engineer within our Sydney team, you will lead the design, development, and delivery of modern applications using both traditional and AI-augmented engineering practices. You will architect scalable solutions, guide technical decisions, mentor engineers, and ensure delivery excellence across client engagements.  This is a hands-on engineering role within a consulting environment, working directly with clients to deliver high-impact, scalable solutions.  You’ll be joining an AI-first engineering organisation, where GitHub Copilot, internal tooling, and prompt-driven development accelerate delivery and elevate engineering quality. You will leverage AI throughout your development workflow and help uplift AI capability across the team.  This role gives you the opportunity to take ownership of complex systems, influence architectural direction, and drive best practices across engineering squads. You’ll engage directly with clients, gather requirements, translate needs into technical solutions, and act as a trusted technical partner.  You will work in small, high-performing interdisciplinary teams that collaborate closely, with pair programming, weekly knowledge-sharing sessions, and a supportive engineering community. Our hybrid working model allows focused work from home while maintaining a collaborative office culture with dedicated spaces for engineering squads.  Responsibilities include:  Leading fullstack development across frontend and backend systems Architecting and designing scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions Guiding technical decision-making and ensuring engineering best practices Using AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor) across development and troubleshooting Conducting thorough code reviews and supporting team-wide quality standards Mentoring mid-level and junior developers Engaging directly with clients to understand requirements and shape technical solutions Supporting DevOps and CI/CD automation workflows Identifying opportunities for AI enhancement within applications and development processes  Who You Are  Requirements:  5+ years professional software development experience Strong expertise in ReactJS for frontend development Strong backend experience with Node.js, Java, or .NET Experience using AI coding assistants (GitHub Copilot, Cursor) in real projects Solid architectural and system design skills Strong communication and stakeholder engagement abilities Ability to mentor engineers and influence technical direction Strong understanding of programming fundamentals and modern design patterns Experience with DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments (AWS/Azure/GCP) Ability to gather requirements, challenge assumptions, and communicate solutions clearly  Preferred:  TypeScript and modern JavaScript Microservices and cloud-native architectures AI/ML services or applied AI experience Mobile development (iOS, Android, Flutter, React Native) Prior consulting or client-facing delivery experience Experience leading technical discovery or solution framing  Common technologies you may work with: React, TypeScript, Node.js, Java, .NET, cloud-native architectures on AWS/Azure/GCP, and modern DevOps toolchains.  More About PALO IT We’re eager to adapt to change, learn from our experiences and move to meet our planet’s urgent needs.
