Company Mission Aktos is a seed-stage, Vertical SaaS Fintech startup looking for a Staff Platform Engineer (80% Backend Engineering + 20% DevOps/SRE) who will play a key role in building the Operating System that powers the $18B Credit Collections industry.  Credit Collectors play an overlooked yet integral part of our financial ecosystem. They help Consumers settle their debts and improve their credit scores— granting them clean states to start over. Our Stack: Frontend - ReactJS, Redux, RTK Query Backend - Django, DRF, Postgres DevOps - Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, Github Actions, AWS, Postgres, Redis. Responsibilities Maintaining our AWS infrastructure Scalable & Maintainable Backend Feature Development [Python Experience is Required] Scalable & Maintainable API/SFTP Integrations [Experience is Required] Monitoring and troubleshooting Postgres DB (adding/removing indexes, partitioning/sharding) Maintaining developer environments. Managing CI pipelines and runners. Setting up and managing alerting systems. Providing on-call support and guidance to other developers to triage issues. Who You Are Backend Engineer Expertise: Python/Django (Django required) Python + DB Performance optimization [Required] API / SFTP Integrations (must have experience) Feature Development experience DevOps/SRE Expertise: Will need to be comfortable with AWS, Maintaining EKS (Kubernetes on AWS). Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, Terraform, Github Actions, AWS, Postgres, Redis. Requirements 5+ Years of Professional Software Development Experience 2+ Years of Professional SRE/DevOps Experience Professional experience maintaining/enhancing Kubernetes cluster via IaaC [Terraform experience preferred]. Professional experience with Python (2+ years required) Strong fundamental understanding and usage of a RDBMS [Postgres preferred] In-depth knowledge and hands on experience with AWS Solid engineering fundamentals and passion for high quality code Product intuition, user empathy, ability to make sound UX decisions Strong work ethic, end-to-end ownership mentality Perks and Benefits: Competitive salary with employee stock options, bonus and access to a 401K Medical, dental and vision coverage Remote-first company
