Department: Disability Resource Center Department's Website: Summary of Job Duties: The Technology Access Consult will consult and collaborate with faculty, students, other campus stakeholders, and outside entities regarding Universal Design and reframing disability. Facilitate access via accommodations, including those related to communication, the physical environment, print materials, and technology. Coordinate Assistive Technology Provide technical assistance to campus regarding Information Technology accessibility. Supervise and train student workers. Perform other related duties as required. This position is governed by state and federal laws and agency/institution policy. Qualifications: Required Education and/or Experience High school diploma or GED; Education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas (Web accessibility, Assistive technology for people with disabilities, Communication skills, Information technology hardware expertise, Word processing, Database management, Organizational skills) . Preferred Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree; Supervise and train student workers; Education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas (HTML and Website Development, Integrated administration software). Job Duties and Responsibilities Coordinate proactive approaches to comprehensive technology accessibility campus-wide, including determination of accessibility of potential hardware and software purchases; Establish collaborative relationships by serving on campus committees as appropriate; Participate in strategic plan activities; Provide training and technical assistance to faculty, staff, administrators, and students, especially regarding accessible information technology (including web, mobile apps, online components of textbooks, software and hardware); Respond to faculty and student requests for conversion of materials to Braille or other alternate formats; Produce and supervise production of alternate formats for textbooks and handouts (e.g., digital, Braille, large print, and recorded); Collaborate with students using AT both on campus and in online classes, providing training and support when necessary; Consult and contract with outside experts as needed; Partner with faculty to assess online and on campus courses for accessibility, provide advice on accessible design, and make necessary changes; Supervise and train student workers and other extra labor support staff. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Knowledge of ADAAA and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act; Knowledge of Assistive Technologies; Knowledge of universal design and social model of disability; Communication skills, including public speaking; Technical writing skills; Computer skills, including database, spreadsheet, and word processing; Conflict resolution skills; Counseling skills; Organizational skills; Public speaking and presentation skills;  Must be able to operate a motor vehicle; Perform other related duties as required.
