Job Description Job Title: Senior Tax Accountant Location: Corporate Department: Accounting and Finance Job Summary :   Principal Duties: Coordinate and assist in the preparation of Wawa’s consolidated federal and multi-state income S- Corporation returns and franchise tax returns.  Prepare quarterly taxable income calculations for use in determining tax distributions to shareholders. Review and analyze reconciliation of all tax related general ledger accounts. Coordinate all activities associated with motor fuel, excise, sales, mercantile, business privilege and personal property taxes. Perform all necessary research, review related returns and monthly journal entries, authorize payments and manage assessments of personal property. Oversee detailed research in all areas of taxation, including income, sales and use, fuel and all other taxes for which the Company is responsible.  Conduct formal and informal training to disseminate this information throughout the department and organization. Assist in the management of tax controversies and audits. Assist the Corporate Accounting Department with preparation of monthly financial statements for subsidiary companies. Responsible for the LIFO and annual Uniform Capitalization calculations. Assist in the management of projects in cross-functional team environments with Departments such as Legal, Financial Accounting, Real Estate/Construction, Fuel Procurement, Marketing and Finance. Assist Manager of Taxation to adapt and implement tax planning strategies and monitor changes in local, state and federal tax laws. Essential Functions: Ability to work well individually as well as in a team environment Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent customer service skills Ability to work with little or no supervision Detail oriented and excellent organizational skills Excellent analytical and problem solving skills Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and independently Excellent interpersonal skills Proven self-starter with demonstrated ability to make decisions Excellent leadership skills Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration preferred, Master’s degree and/or CPA or CPA candidate a plus 4-5 years of Accounting and/or Tax experience Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Fuel Smart, Zytax, CCH Prosystems, SAP and Onesource Wawa will provide reasonable accommodation to complete an application upon request, consistent with applicable law.
