About the Position: We are seeking candidates for a Motor Vehicle Regulatory Compliance Inspector for our driver education and commercial motor vehicle driver education schools located statewide.  This is investigative and protective services work involving the inspection of Driver Education and Commercial Motor Vehicle Driver Education schools for compliance of federal and state laws, rules, and regulations governing compliance with motor vehicle regulatory functions and licensing driver education and commercial motor vehicle driver instructors. This position requires an individual who is comfortable working independently most days, but collaboratively when required.  Field work and virtual meetings are common.  The individual must also be willing to represent the State with professionalism in all interactions.  Work is performed under limited supervision . In this role, you will: Inspects driver education and commercial motor vehicle driver education school facilities for new and renewed schools to ensure they conform with state requirements. Provides reference data and information on motor vehicle laws, rules, regulations, and procedures to ensure businesses and the public are informed. Gathers and summarizes information from on-site inspections and writes detailed reports of inspection of schools to assist with licensing or suspension violations, to document compliance/non-compliance, and to maintain records. Explains driver education and commercial motor vehicle driver education program laws, rules, regulations, and polices to provide information and guidance to licensees about licensing procedures and/or corrective actions. Monitors classroom and behind-the-wheel instructors, written testing of instructors, compliance investigations to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Reviews and investigates complaints to determine validity, circumstances, and recommend corrective action necessary. Explains driver education and commercial motor vehicle driver education licensing programs policies, guidelines, rules, and regulations to provide information to licensees, public officials, and private groups. Operates computer equipment and utilizes various software programs to generate reports, transmit information, and access databases. Testifies in administrative, civil, and/or criminal proceedings to provide testimony of evidentiary value. Assists the director at legislative hearings to provide technical information and testimony involving driver education and commercial motor vehicle driver education schools, licensing and compliance. Participates on technical boards and committees involving driver education and commercial motor vehicle driver education licensing. Position requires shared responsibilities of processing forms submitted by schools, licensing schools and instructors and analysis of data. Preferences will be given to candidates who have: Knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations governing driver education and commercial motor vehicle driver education. Knowledge of Bureau of Motor Vehicle standard operating procedures. Knowledge of Driver License Manual. Knowledge of state vehicle and other equipment maintenance requirements. Ability to provide accurate information. Ability to work independently. Ability to work evenings, weekends and occasional overnights. Ability to conduct investigations, reach logical conclusions, and make sound recommendations. Ability to keep and prepare accurate records and activity reports. Ability to use applicable computer programs. Ability to monitor services rendered to the public.  Minimum Qualifications: A two (2) year combination of education, training, and/or experience in driver education practices, regulatory practices, or related experiences. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
