This position will be based in our Zurich office with a hybrid schedule that has the option of working two days remotely each week. Team Overview: The Claims Department of ERCID is looking for a Head of Claims to join our Zurich office.  This position intended to support Everest Re’s continuing expansion in Continental European reinsurance.  The appointment will reinforce our commitment to providing clients and distribution partners with best-in-class claims solutions. The successful individual will report to the Head of International Re Claims based in Zurich and join the International Re Claims Leadership team. Role Purpose: The successful candidate will lead a team of three claims professionals and as well as managing a broad claims portfolio will assist with the training and development of the wider claims team.  The role requires an innovative and inquisitive mindset to contribute to the continuous improvement of our working practices and to add to our analytical capabilities. Key Accountabilities: Lead the continental European claims function. Work closely and effectively within the broader global reinsurance claims team. Support the Zurich Underwriting team in market studies and client visits. Operate as the leading technical referral point for European claims issues. Contribute to the development of the reinsurance claims function. Develop effective working relationships with major Global and Regional clients and brokers. Prepare and present claims, management and board reports and Solvency II returns. Liaise with regulatory authorities as necessary. Contribute to ad hoc claims projects designated by the International Head of Claims. Assist in the production of periodical updates on claims trends and developments. Professional Experience: Broad cross class claims handling experience in Reinsurance. Open to a broad range of claims backgrounds. Experience using ECF2/Class/Writeback/P2P messaging systems. Detailed understanding of general reinsurance principles. Experience of handling claims in UK, European or International legal systems. Skills & Abilities: Supervisory, management or leadership experience. Fluent English required, German, French or both would be strongly preferred. What if I don’t meet every requirement?
