Position Overview The Corporate Communications team at Apollo, which leads all communications, corporate brand and corporate marketing activities globally is seeking a new team member who is a self-starter with strong writing and media relations skills, excellent project management skills and exceptional judgement. This role will sit in the Tokyo office and cover Apollo’s Asia-Pacific platform. The ideal candidate for this role is an accomplished communications professional with a keen intellect, tireless work ethic, and a broad world view combined with creativity, vision and ambition Hands-on experience with M&A communications, crisis management and special situations, and organizational communications is essential. This professional will have high EQ, mental agility, and the confidence and executive presence to earn the trust of Apollo's leaders. The role encompasses a broad spectrum of responsibilities, including: Working with Apollo executives and teams across business lines to develop and implement strategic, proactive media plans and tactics to support corporate and divisional business and marketing objectives and drive measurable results Continuously identifying ways to differentiate the Apollo platform to key stakeholders throughout APAC Taking a proactive role in media engagement, driving story ideas, initiatives and issues management Align closely with global teams – work with colleagues based in New York, London and Asia to ensure consistency of strategic priorities globally Creating informative, persuasive and concise internal and external communications Planning and executing both internal and external speaking engagements on behalf of senior executives Drafting press releases, briefing notes, talking points, internal and external content Help manage the relationships with local agencies, serving as their day-to-day contact Ad-hoc projects, as needed Qualifications & Experience Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in hands-on media relations and required expertise in financial, transactional and corporate communications Proven ability to consistently make sound judgments, engage and build trust with senior executives and effectively collaborate with others Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently Have a track-record establishing, building and managing meaningful relationships with media, key stakeholders, our executives, journalists and global colleagues Experience in managing reputational risk and crisis communications Effective manager of external agencies Highly entrepreneurial and self-motivated who thrives in a dynamic and passionate work environment Tech enthusiast with hunger to learn and leverage AI tools to reshape ways of working Experience living or studying overseas, or working for international firms valued Native level Japanese highly preferred Personal Characteristics: Demonstrates a flexible and adaptable work style, responding quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines Strong written and verbal communication and organizational skills; and experience or deep understanding of communicating across varied platforms, content types and technologies Experience in developing metrics to quantify results to measure the team’s effectiveness Acute attention to detail, ability to multi-task, willingness and desire to learn and work well within a team are critical Unquestionable professional and personal integrity A team-player and self-starter, with a positive attitude and excellent work ethic Strong project management skills ABOUT APOLLO Apollo is a high-growth, global alternative asset manager.
