Position Summary   The Information Graphics Designer is a member of   Pew   Research Center's digital   team .     Designers   create   eye-catching   visuals that   c ommunicate the Center’s   findings   across a range of editorial offerings . They use data visualization, interacti vity , illustration,   animation   and photography to help the Center’s research travel farther.   This position reports to the   associate director of design and production .     Primary Responsibilities   Design statistical charts   using   i ndustry standard an d   in-house tools   Provide visual   expertise   and advice   to Center researchers   Source   and edit   photos and illustrations   Design   digital features and   interactive s   Develop   engaging social media   visuals   (social first as well as adaptations)   Prepare   polished   presentations for virtual and in-person events   Produce all work to the highest standards of accuracy and presentation   Adhere to Center styles and workflows   Maintain an audience-centric mindset       Education/Training/Experience   0-3   years   of   experience in digital publishing/journalism   Proven ability to design charts that   demonstrate   visualization best practices   Demonstrated u nderstanding of graphic design fundamentals (e.g., scale, color, hierarchy, typography, layering, grouping,   composition )   Basic data literacy/numeracy     Knowledge and Skill Requirements   Proficiency   with Adobe   CS , Microsoft   Excel , Figma and project management platforms   Strong attention to detail   Ability to build and   maintain   relationships with   colleagues   across the Center   Good written and verbal communication skills   Eagerness to receive constructive feedback from non-design   sta keholders , and formulate alternatives   Ability to work independently on multiple assignments   I nterest in the Center’s research areas or methods   Demonstrated   specialization s ,   includ ing   m otion graphics /animation , illustration , etc., a plus     FLSA Status: Exempt    Compensation:   The typical starting salary for this position is $60,000 annually.   Hybrid Work Schedule:   Pew Research Center staff are required to be present in the Center’s Washington, D.C., office three core days weekly (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).   Staff may work   virtually from   remote locations on other days in a typical work week .       Application Procedure:   Click on the Apply button, and complete required fields .    A complete application includes a c over letter ,   resume , and   work samples ( via   attachment or   link to   online   portfolio).    When requested, please upload a copy of your resume/cv, as well as a copy of your cover letter   and work samples   (if attachments)   in the section labeled Resume/Cover Letter.   If the documents have successfully   uploaded , you should see 2 +   attached files beneath the “Drop files here” box.   Please make sure you have uploaded a resume AND a cover letter before moving on to the next page.     Total Rewards   In addition to competitive pay, Pew Research Center’s employees enjoy a robust total rewards package   that includes:   Affordable, comprehensive health care that includes medical, dental (including adult orthodontia) and vision benefits.
