About the Team The Workday AI Infrastructure & Operations team is seeking an energetic and determined Software Engineer to design, implement, and deliver highly scalable features for our AI Infrastructure platform. As a member of this fast paced group you will have a unique and rewarding opportunity to shape and contribute towards microservices that power Workday AI features in production. You will partner with Data Scientists, AI/ML Engineers, and other Software Engineers to create the technology that brings these features to life. About the Role Key Responsibilities: Develop systems and tooling, primarily using Python and robust software engineering practices, to ensure the quick, efficient, and safe delivery of AI Platform Applications. Improve engineers' ability to build, test, and deliver applications by continually building and improving Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Delivery (CD) systems. Emphasize a strong foundation in software engineering principles, design patterns, and best practices to build maintainable, scalable, and high-quality systems. Build intelligent automation solutions to reduce the cost of ownership for applications and empower engineers with self-service operational capabilities Work with public cloud environments (IaaS, AWS, GCP), with a strong focus on Kubernetes and Docker-based workflows, owning feature development end-to-end, including infrastructure as code. Collaborate closely with Tech Leads and Engineers across the AI platform Organization to gather requirements, drive technical solutions, and research, evaluate, and prototype new tools for reliable and scalable adoption. Maintain system reliability through proactive issue resolution, process automation, and participation in a rotational on-call support schedule. About You We need creative and dedicated Software Engineers, like you, who really want to move the needle. Basic qualifications: Minimum of 8 years of experience in software development, with a focus on managing CI/CD pipelines, SDLC tooling, and infrastructure automation. Proven ability in robust system design. Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines with Git and Jenkins. Strong proficiency in Python development and its ecosystem. Experience delivering and maintaining production-level, customer-facing applications. Proficiency with containerization technologies, specifically Docker and Kubernetes. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with other AI Platform teams to drive product improvements and enhance engineering process efficiencies. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Excellent problem-solving skills, with a focus on documenting solutions accurately. Available to participate in a rotating on-call support schedule. Preferred qualifications : A BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field. Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools like Terraform. Familiarity with the broader kubernetes ecosystem (Argo, Istio, CRDs) Experience with service-oriented architecture, distributed systems, and microservices. Understanding of communication protocols and RESTful services. Experience building and maintaining comprehensive monitoring services, utilizing tools like Grafana. Experience developing and sustaining well-organized documentation and effective troubleshooting guides. Prior experience working with enterprise SaaS products.
