Department Overview The mission of the Business Planning Department is to centrally manage the formulation, execution, and progress of the Ad & Media Company's business strategy. Furthermore, it serves as the compass for the entire business, including risk management and compliance frameworks. By deeply analyzing market trends, competitor activities, and internal data, the department contributes to enhancing the company's value through building an optimal business portfolio and providing management support that enables each division to achieve maximum performance. As the Business Planning Department for the Ad & Media Company's digital advertising and research businesses, we are responsible for management control and strategic planning to maximize revenue for each business and service. Our role is to support the promotion of optimization strategies across all managed businesses, while achieving individual optimization for each specific business. To this end, our mission is to steer the business towards continuous growth alongside the managing executives, by planning and designing KPIs to visualize various business situations and conducting various data analyses. This position offers close proximity to the management team, allowing for daily involvement in business decision-making. We also organize and set up regular reporting meetings for the management. Additionally, regarding the company-wide promotion of AI integration, the department aims to further strengthen its efforts with the goal of improving operational efficiency and achieving higher precision in output.   Position: Why We Hire - We serve as one of the core units within the organization, operating primarily in the internet advertising sector within the B2B marketing solutions domain. - As part of business planning, we are committed to ensuring the continued growth of the advertising-related business, which is a growing segment within Rakuten's overall business, aiming to establish it as the fourth pillar, and thereby contributing to the development of the entire group. - The immediate recruitment is due to a vacancy, but we plan to gradually expand the organization while assessing business conditions. Position Details Our mission is to contribute to the realization of business strategies, supporting the compilation of strategies aligned with the company's vision, coordination with various departments, and the formulation and execution of business plans. Our main mission is to make recommendations to management by planning and designing KPIs to visualize various business situations and analyzing the corresponding data. We also frequently collaborate with the management accounting team on numerical analysis tasks, supporting planning based on budget/actual management and performance analysis for each service within the department. Additionally, we organize and set up regular reporting meetings for management. - Budget formulation - Various management analyses, creation of data/materials for reporting to management - Support for strategy formulation of managed businesses - Preparation and operation of materials for regular meetings - Tasks related to international markets, such as coordination with Rakuten Group's global offices - Creation of data/materials requested by management and cross-functional coordination/management - Business portfolio analysis, productivity analysis There is also frequent coordination and reporting with managers of other internal departments, heads of internal businesses, executive officers, and directors. There are also opportunities to report management reports in English. Work Environment A team of three, including the manager. We consistently work as one team with the management accounting team (7 members, including the manager), which is a sister organization within the Business Planning Department. To achieve the common goal of continuous business growth for our affiliated company, we are enhancing the linkage between strategic planning and financial management. The 10-member team, which includes roles in business planning and management accounting, largely consists of individuals from operating companies, including manufacturers. All but one member are mid-career hires. Beyond operating companies, some members have career backgrounds in consulting or government. Additionally, two of the team members are foreign nationals.
