The Marketing Division is therefore strengthening and promoting close collaboration with Rakuten Mobile as part of our group-wide marketing initiatives.   About the Department and Our Services   Our department belongs to the Marketing Division of the Rakuten Mobile business, and is responsible for planning and executing PR (Public Relations) strategies. Through television, digital media, and social media, we strive to clearly communicate Rakuten Mobile’s vision and the world it aspires to create. Our mission goes beyond simply increasing awareness of our products and services — we aim to inspire positive attitudes toward the brand and turn customers into loyal Rakuten Mobile fans. To achieve this, we collaborate cross-functionally with various internal organizations, driving PR strategy planning, execution, and content development that are deeply rooted in the customer perspective. Background of Recruitment   As the Rakuten Mobile business continues to grow, we are expanding our PR (Public Relations) capabilities to strengthen our overall communication structure, while also enhancing our organization as a telecommunications infrastructure business.   Given the potential for large-scale natural disasters such as the Nankai Trough Earthquake and the Tokyo Inland Earthquake, this recruitment also aims to establish a redundant (backup) public relations function outside of Tokyo Headquarters, in order to ensure business continuity and reinforce our crisis communication framework during emergencies.   Job Description As a member of the PR team within the Marketing Division of the Rakuten Mobile business, you will take the lead in planning and executing PR strategies, as well as managing public relations activities during emergencies. This role offers a unique opportunity to take on new challenges in the telecommunications industry—a field with a long history—through the dual lenses of marketing and public relations. You will be part of an environment where you can apply your creativity and strategic thinking to shape the future of Rakuten Group’s innovative communication services as a leading IT company.   Responsibilities Depending on your experience and expertise, you will be responsible for the following: - Manage public relations activities during emergencies. - Plan, develop, and execute PR strategies. - Strengthen and build redundancy in PR functions through coordination with relevant departments (based in the Osaka office). - Lead crisis communication efforts. - Plan, organize, and manage press conferences and media events. - Draft and distribute press releases and newsletters. - Build and maintain strong media relations, from key national broadcasters to local media outlets across Japan. - Handle media inquiries, interview requests, and communication with relevant executives. - Monitor and manage media coverage, clippings, and negotiations. - Share information and updates through owned and social media channels. - Manage external PR agencies and partners.   Work Environment Our team is made up of members from diverse backgrounds — including mid-career hires, new graduates, employees working concurrently from other departments, and temporary staff. Regardless of employment type, each member takes ownership of their responsibilities and works proactively to achieve our shared goals.   Required Qualifications Not all of the following are mandatory, but we are looking for candidates who possess one or more of the following experiences or strengths.   - Able to work at the Osaka office (with occasional business trips to the Tokyo headquarters). - Over 5 years of professional work experience. - At least 3 years of hands-on experience in public relations at a business company, or consulting experience at a PR agency. - Experience in public relations within the infrastructure industry or related services. - Experience in planning, writing, editing, and distributing press releases or newsletters in Japanese. - Experience in organizing and managing press conferences or media events, and maintaining media relations. - Strong communication skills in Japanese. - Experience in planning and managing events. Preferred Qualifications - Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. - Leadership experience, regardless of team size or scale. - Experience in organizational management, including budget control, talent development, and setting operational policies. - Experience in crisis communication or corporate risk management PR. - Proven track record in developing and executing PR strategies, with the ability to plan mid- to long-term initiatives. - Experience in managing or directing PR agencies, or working at a PR agency. - Experience in financial communication, including earnings and IR-related activities. - Experience in creating PR tools such as fact books and corporate communication materials. - Experience in preparing executive presentations for speeches or conferences (using PowerPoint or Keynote). - Intermediate level of English proficiency (able to conduct research and reporting in English). - Strong interest in the Internet, mobile business, and social media trends.   #corporate #PR #marketing #marketingdiv #RakutenMobile #cmorec
