Job Description: Department   Overview   The EC Marketplace Development Department is responsible for the development and operation of Rakuten Ichiba - one of Japan’s largest e-commerce shopping malls - and its related products. As the team behind an EC service with enormous traffic (annual merchandise value: JPY 6 trillion, 50,000 merchants, over 100 million member IDs), we continuously take on challenges such as improving development speed and quality, ensuring stable operations, and building scalable systems. We pursue customer satisfaction through a cycle of hypothesis → verification → analysis → systemization. Our team consists of engineers with diverse nationalities and backgrounds, providing a highly diverse and inclusive working environment. Position :   Why   We   H ire   The mobile app serves as a core product for Rakuten Ichiba users and is constantly expected to deliver new features and improved user experiences. We are looking for future engineering leader candidates who can drive mobile app development with flexibility, creativity, and speed. Position   Details   - Development and operation of the Rakuten Ichiba mobile app and related mobile applications - Mobile app design, coding, and unit/integration testing - Delivery processes and monitoring operations - Troubleshooting issues and defects - Progress management and reporting for assigned tasks - Supporting and mentoring junior engineers - Contributing to overall team performance improvement - Planning and executing technical improvements such as tech stack and architecture modernization and technical debt reduction - Proposing and implementing improvements to development processes and workflows Mandatory Qualifications :   - 6+ years of hands-on experience developing iOS mobile applications using Swift, including : Complex UI implementation (both UIKit and SwiftUI), Tracking implementation, Software configuration management, CI/CD, Test and product build delivery, and Ticket management systems such as JIRA - Practical application of best practices in design, coding, and unit testing - Business-level or higher English communication skills - Ability to communicate effectively with engineers and non-engineers outside the team (engineers, product managers, designers, QA) - Ability to independently or collaboratively lead mid-sized or larger development projects - Ability to provide technical support and mentoring to junior members - Strong willingness to take on new challenges - Team-oriented mindset Desired Qualifications :   - Use of AI and automation in development workflows - Knowledge of API and backend development - Experience developing and operating large-scale services - Experience as a team leader - Japanese communication skills Other Information: Additional information on Location Rakuten Crimson House (Head office) Additional information on English Qualification TOEIC Score 800 above or possess equivalent abilities #engineer #applicationsengineer #commerce #RakutenIchiba #Swift Languages: English (Overall - 4 - Fluent)
