Now, we’re seeking a   LEAD ACCOUNTANT , based in   Gauteng (South Africa). On a typical day you will: Oversee daily accounting operations , including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations. Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards, tax regulations, and company policies. Prepare and review financial statements and reports to ensure accuracy and timeliness. Manage month-end and year-end closing processes , ensuring all deadlines are met. Coordinate audits (internal and external) and implement recommendations for process improvements. Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure data integrity. Lead and mentor the accounting team , fostering professional development and high performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and support strategic decision-making. Identify opportunities for process automation and efficiency improvements within the accounting function What You Will Need to be Successful: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field ; CPA or equivalent certification is a plus. Minimum 5-10 years of experience in accounting or finance, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Strong knowledge of accounting principles (IFRS/GAAP) and tax regulations. Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (e.g., JDE, HFM, Power BI). Advanced Excel skills and ability to analyze large data sets. Excellent leadership and team management skills , with a proven track record of developing talent. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities , with attention to detail. Effective communication skills , both written and verbal, and ability to work collaboratively across departments. Fluency in English ; additional languages are an advantage.
