Job Description: In the HPE Hybrid Cloud, we lead the innovation agenda and technology roadmap for all of HPE. This includes managing the design, development, and product portfolio of our next-generation cloud platform, Green Lake. Working with customers, we help them reimagine their information technology needs to deliver a simple, consumable solution that helps them drive their business results. What you’ll do: As a Specialist – Software Engineering , you will be a senior individual contributor with strong storage domain knowledge and hands-on expertise in Golang and Java . You will design, develop, and support storage-related software components and platform services, while consistently leveraging AI-assisted development tools as part of your daily engineering workflow to improve design quality, coding efficiency, and review effectiveness. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and enhance storage-related software services and platform components using Golang and Java . Apply strong storage fundamentals (block/file storage, persistence, performance, resiliency) in software design and implementation. Analyse functional and non-functional requirements and translate them into scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions. Use AI-assisted tools (e.g., Copilot) in day-to-day development activities such as code authoring, refactoring, test generation, and documentation . Leverage AI-assisted tools during design discussions and code reviews to validate approaches, identify improvements, and maintain code quality. Perform and participate in code reviews , ensuring adherence to coding standards, design patterns, performance, and security best practices. Mentor and guide junior engineers , including promoting effective and responsible use of AI-assisted development tools. Participate in architecture and design reviews , contributing technical insights and improvement suggestions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including QA, DevOps, SRE, security, and product management . Follow Agile development practices , actively using JIRA for sprint planning, backlog management, and delivery tracking. Contribute to CI/CD pipelines , automation, and continuous improvement initiatives. Ensure solutions follow security-first principles , enterprise reliability standards, and compliance requirements. Document designs, technical decisions, and operational guidelines. Education & Experience Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline. Typically 5+ years of professional experience in software development. What you need to bring: Required Knowledge & Skills Strong foundation in software engineering principles , object-oriented programming, and design patterns. Hands-on experience with Golang and Java in production environments. Experience working on Linux-based systems . Practical knowledge of microservices architectures and RESTful APIs . Understanding of distributed systems and concurrency concepts. Experience with CI/CD pipelines , version control systems, and build tools. Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Additional / Preferred Skills Experience with hybrid cloud or public cloud platforms . Familiarity with DevOps tools and automation frameworks. Exposure to containers and Kubernetes or other container orchestration platforms. Awareness of application security , authentication, authorization, and secure coding practices. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts. Innovation & Continuous Improvement Actively contribute ideas to improve product capabilities, performance, scalability, and operational efficiency. Evaluate and experiment with new technologies, frameworks, and architectural patterns relevant to storage and platform engineering. Apply AI-assisted tools to accelerate innovation, improve solution quality, and optimize engineering workflows. Participate in innovation initiatives, proof-of-concepts, or internal hackathons as applicable. Drive continuous improvement through retrospectives, metrics, and adoption of best engineering practices.
