Department Profile The Finance Division reports to the Chief Financial Officer and consists of some 3,000 employees worldwide. Finance protects the Morgan Stanley franchise by serving as guardian of the Firm’s books and records, and by contributing to firmwide risk management and risk reduction. This division maintains relationships with Morgan Stanley’s various industry and government regulators, and also serves as the conduit of financial information to the outside investment community. Finance plays a critical role as advisor to Morgan Stanley’s various businesses and its senior management team. Job Overview / Primary Responsibilities This is a Director or a Vice President level position within the Accounting & Regulatory Policy team which is responsible for the firm's accounting policies under USGAAP and IFRS and Basel based regulatory capital and liquidity policy. Title and compensation will be determined based on candidate's experience. This individual will be a member of the Global Accounting Policy group and be responsible for providing subject matter expertise as it relates to U.S. GAAP as follows: Advising various business units and corporate functions regarding complex and/or new transactions, and documenting analyses and conclusions Advising stakeholders on the application of existing accounting standards Interpreting various emerging technical issues Monitoring emerging accounting standards through interacting with various peer industry groups Assisting in developing, updating and maintaining the Firm’s global accounting policies Participating in the development of training on technical topics and presenting to the global Finance Division Reviewing certain aspects of U.S GAAP financial statements and disclosures (10-K, 10-Q, and stand-alone reports) for appropriateness. Skills Required At least 6 years of experience; at least 4 years in public accounting is preferred Undergraduate degree in Accounting (or equivalent) and CPA license Financial Services/Banking/Capital Markets industry experience is a plus Knowledge and experience with accounting topics in the areas of lending, financial instruments, M&A, and revenue recognition from contracts with customers is beneficial   Confidence interacting with senior management across and outside of the Finance Division Strong analytic, writing, oral and presentation skills, including ability to summarize complex issues and detailed analysis with clarity and brevity Proven track record of working with teams and ability to work across organizational boundaries Ability to work effectively individually, escalate as necessary, and collaborate in a team environment Proactive and able to manage multiple priorities effectively Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint Eager to utilize AI tools, experience is a plus Travel Requirements Minimal to None What you can expect from Morgan Stanley: We have a track record of innovation and passion for unlocking new opportunities, we help our clients raise, manage and allocate capital. Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $90,000 and $205,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
