The Opportunity: We’re investing heavily in Financial Lines and have a brand‑new opportunity for an Underwriter – Financial Lines/ Professional & Management Risks to join our expanding UK team. This role sits within our fast‑growing Broker Channel, where broker engagement, pipelines and new business volumes are increasing at pace. You’ll be front and centre of our growth strategy, underwriting complex risks, strengthening broker partnerships and helping Markel remain a preferred provider in the market. With hybrid working and a London, Birmingham or Leeds office base, this is an exciting time to join a business that values autonomy, expertise and ambition. What You’ll Be Doing: As a core contributor to the PMR / Financial Lines portfolio, you will: Underwrite complex new business within your authority, delivering profitable growth against agreed financial targets Demonstrate strong technical underwriting capability across Professional Indemnity, Management Risks and Technology risks Build and maintain high‑performing broker relationships, delivering a responsive and high‑quality service Act as a trusted expert, confidently articulating Markel’s value proposition and underwriting appetite Actively develop pipeline opportunities with partner brokers to drive sustainable growth Collaborate closely with Underwriting, Distribution and internal stakeholders to deliver the right outcomes for brokers and their clients Maintain accurate broker and opportunity data using our CRM system Contribute to a coaching and mentoring culture, supporting consistent underwriting excellence across the team What We’re Looking For: We’re seeking ambitious, motivated underwriters who are ready to make their mark.
