Our purpose is simple - to deliver a sustainable future for the world through science and collaboration.   If you’re looking for a challenge and meaningful role, you’re in the right place.   About this   R ole     As a   Senior Hardware Discipline   Engineer   based in   Chennai   you will provide specialized technical support and solutions for project teams ,   operatio ns   and maintenance as a   Process Containment Equipment (PCE) Engineer, u nderstand ing   and implement ing   Most Effective Technology (MET), work process ,   too ls   and industry best practices within   the PCE D iscipline .   The Hardware Disciplines within Engineering and Maintenance ar e   compris ed   of the following disciplines: Buildings, Civil, Electrical, Instrument, Materials, Mechanical, Process Containment Equipment and Piping. Hardware Discipline s   r equi re   expanded conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and broaden capabilities   to   support both projects and technical support teams as   an   I nspector,   Discipline E ngineer or   Discipline L ead on   site executed,   small ,   intermedia te   and   large   capital   projects.   Responsibilities include   but are not limited to:     In the   Inspector and Discipline Engineer   cap acity:   P repar e s   Mechanical Data Sheet s   & Material Requisition s   (MR)   Packages, Bid/ O ffer evaluation s , Technical Bid   Evaluations   (TB E ), Purchase Requisition s   (PR )   and vendor document/drawings review s   as per relevant codes,   standard s   and   o wner specification s .   Understands and implements Most Effective Technology (MET), work process,   tools   and industry best practices within   Process Containment Equipment (PCE) Discipline .   Coordinate s   implementation of   PCE design b est practices.   Ensure s   compliance with Dow   standards,   maximizing value for the business es we serve   and providing the lowest long-term cost to   operate   and maintain.   Deliver s   v alue in design , u nderstand ing   and implement ing   “ Safety in Design ” and “ Process Safety ” concepts.   Assist s   in project reviews and team checks as   required   to ensure quality of deliverables.   Has   r esponsib ility   for the   appropriate level   of attendance at project meetings   including but   not limited to   site contractor visits.   Gather s   lessons learned from projects and   leverage s   these learnings   in to   future p roject s and assignments .   Mentor s   and Coach es   new   engineers   as   required .   In the Discipline Lead capacity:   Has accountability for project results and for the implementation of and adherence to all relevant work processes and best practices.   Leads the completion of deliverables provided to estimating and reviews output of the estimate to ensure   accurate   reflection of scope.   Maintain s   awareness of schedule, milestones, and challenges of   assignments and   project s .   Represent s   the   PCE D iscipline in meetings and   multi-discipline   discussions.   Directs activities within   the PCE D iscipline and coordinates activities with other   project   disciplines.   Ensure   PCE Discipline   deliverables meet the needs of the project including functioning as intended, on time and within budget.   Leads technical contract package development and   supports   implementation.   Drives value engineering and economic designs to ensure the best value is delivered to the business es we serve.   Drive s   a   “ N o change mentality ”   culture within the project team and discipline.   Q ualifications     Bachelors   or  master’s degree in mechanical engineering   with   8- 1 2   years of relevant experience .   Well - e xperienced in Design & Detailed Engineering of various Static Equipmen t,   like :   Pressure Vessels, Columns/Towers, Storage Tanks, Silos, Reactors, S&T Heat Exchangers and Filters ,   etc.   for Petrochemicals and Refineries.   Detailed exposure to   international   codes/standards such as ASME Sec VIII Div 1 & 2, ASME SEC II, ASTM, API 650, API   620   and TEMA.   Functional   and practical   exposure to   Design by Rules ( ASME Sec VIII Div   2   – Part 4) ,   Design by   Analysis   ( ASME Sec VIII Div   2   – Part   5 ) , and   Fatigue Analysis   ( ASME Sec VIII Div   2   – Part 5 )   of Pressure Vessels .     You   Skills     Familiar in designing static equipment using international software such as: PV Elite, Compress, and   AMETank ,   etc.   Demonstrated problem management and issue resolution skills.   Ability to communicate effectively in English (Written and Verbal) is   a must .
