Northrop Grumman Space Systems, Multi-Domain Operations, and Missile Defense Integration Business Unit (BU) has an exciting career opportunity for Sr. Principal Systems Engineer – Level 4  to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Huntsville, AL. This position offers the option of a 9/80 work schedule on location at our Huntsville, Alabama facility. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. Essential Functions: Perform model-based systems engineering (MBSE) functional and behavior analysis for a software and hardware integrated system. Participate in a MBSE environment to develop system-of-systems requirements via system/component trade studies and analysis. Contributes to publishing change notices to system specification and update of requirements databases, architectural models, interface definitions, and trace system and Element level requirements. Document analysis results in reports and briefings for critique and review by internal and external stakeholders. Create and present briefings within the team and external stakeholders. Duties will include leading system engineering in the development of requirements, model, and tracking status of verification. Perform detailed tracking of changes to system requirements and verification Decompose hardware and software requirements from the Prime item design specification(PIDS). The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and collaborative/team settings across all levels. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university and 8 years of related experience, or a Master's STEM Degree and 6 years of related experience, or 4 years of experience with a PhD. Strong prior experience with use of MSOSA (Cameo) and DOORS. Applicants must demonstrate a strong hardware and software technical background in architecture development, functional decomposition, requirements development and allocation, and interface definition with system-modelling tools. Applicants must have a strong background in MBSE (Model Based Systems Engineering) and the use of SysML to describe behaviors of a complex DoD system. Capable of working both independently within a small team environment and leading a small group. Ability and willingness to travel up to 10% of the time to support business needs. Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance at the time of application which is required to start. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience modeling or simulating missile defense applications or similar domains (launch support systems, flight test equipment, intercept of ballistic targets, intercept of non-ballistic targets, etc.). Modeling and analysis experience in aspects of the missile defense system (e.g., Aegis Weapons Systems, Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD), Glide Phase Intercept (GPI), Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS), Fire Control, C2BMC, MDS sensors (EO/IR/RF), kill vehicles, interceptors, countermeasures, etc.). Systems engineering experience with large, complex systems. Primary Level Salary Range: $135,800.00 - $203,600.00 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
