Job Title Snr Software Engineer (Billing EMEA) About your role: As Clover continues to grow globally, the EMEA Billing team is instrumental in delivering scalable, accurate, and efficient billing solutions that support merchants across diverse markets. This team focuses on building resilient backend systems, streamlining financial operations, and ensuring seamless integration within Clover’s ecosystem, all while driving innovation and maintaining high standards of quality and reliability We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Java Developer with over 8 years of hands-on experience in building scalable, high-performance backend systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture, along with exposure to DevOps practices and cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and related technologies. Build and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party services. Support production systems and participate in KTLO (Keep The Lights On) activities Work with microservices architecture, ensuring scalability, performance, and maintainability. Collaborate with DevOps teams to support CI/CD pipelines and cloud deployments. Write clean, efficient, and testable code following best practices. Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and agile ceremonies. Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring high availability and reliability. Required Skills & Experience 8+ years of professional experience in Java development. Strong knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and REST APIs. Experience with microservices architecture and distributed systems. Experience with Maven/Gradle, and unit/integration testing frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Mockito). Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI. Exposure to cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS, or Azure. Proficiency in Git, Linux, and scripting languages like Bash or Python,  Work with databases (SQL and NoSQL), optimize queries for performance, and demonstrate a strong understanding of database concepts. Mentor junior and mid-level developers and provide technical guidance. Contribute to system architecture and design decisions, and drive technical innovation. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, and provide root cause analysis. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently or in a team.   Experience that would be great to have: Experience with message brokers like Google Pub/Sub, Kafka or RabbitMQ. Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (e.g.,Grafana Prometheus). Understanding of Docker, Kubernetes, and Terraform is a plus. Knowledge of security best practices in backend and cloud environments. Exposure to Agile/Scrum methodologies and DevSecOps principles.
