Assists with the educational efforts that are provided through the Veterinary Medical Emergency Management Clinical rotation, that is part of the required curriculum in the CVM.     What you need to know Salary: Compensation will be   commensurate   to the selected   hire’s   experience.   Travel/Schedule: This position may require work beyond normal office hours and/or work on weekends and may require travel. Employee must be able to travel to natural disaster sites when the VET team is deployed. You may upload them   on   the application under the CV/Resume section . Responsibilities Deployments: Serves on the Command and General staff of the VET during deployments. Participates in planning meetings and development of the Incident Action Plan. Provides oversight of veterinary medical operations, which includes reviewing and updating triage definitions on a daily basis and monitoring pharmaceutical inventory. Provides guidance on animal euthanasia decisions. Oversees controlled pharmaceuticals deployed to the operational area. Provides guidance on pharmaceutical needs and alternatives. Provides veterinary medical guidance to assigned veterinarians.   VET Regional Response and Preparedness: Assists the VET Director in establishing and developing VET regional memberships. Engages with emergency management and veterinary medical professionals in their assigned region. Engages with educational efforts of the VET through the senior year VET rotation.  Assists in delivering educational opportunities and develops training materials for new members. Reviews training outcomes. Transportation: S erves as a driver of Texas A&M vehicles, transporting team members and volunteers to and within the deployment area.     Qualifications Required Education and Experience: Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and t hree years of veterinary medical experience. Required Licenses and Certifications: Must have a Class C Texas Driver’s License, c urrent DEA license, and DVM License in the State of Texas. Preferred Qualifications: Three years of emergency management experience, f amiliarity with VET on-line medical records system, Office 365, Google Drive, Excel, and Excel based Incident Action Plans, and f amiliarity with Powerpoint, Zoom, etc. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others and k nowledge of veterinary pharmaceuticals.
