Job Description: In order to support the research on Artificial Intelligence for future applications in the aerospace sector, Airbus Central Research & Technology within Airbus Defence and Space is looking for an Intern within Quantum-Inspired Methods for AI Model Optimization (d/f/m) Are you looking for such an internship and want to get to know more about the work of a Quantum Computing and AI research scientist at Airbus?  Then apply now! Location: Taufkirchen Start: March 2026 Duration: 6 months Traditional Artificial Intelligence (AI) models, particularly complex deep neural networks, are often resource intensive, demanding significant computational power and memory for both training and inference. This presents a considerable challenge to the deployment of such large models in real time or resource constrained environments which are often the case in aerospace applications. This internship, within the Central Research and Technology at Airbus in Ottobrunn/Taufkirchen, therefore offers a unique opportunity to support a project focused on the application of Quantum-Inspired Methods for AI model Compression and Optimization. The internship will involve supporting the research team in exploring the theoretical benefits and practical implementation of techniques like Tensor Networks (TNs) for Vision model Optimization.  Your location Our site is just a stone's throw away from Munich, the beautiful capital of Bavaria. Your tasks and responsibilities  Supporting research activities in the project on Tensor Networks (TNs) application for Deep Neural Network (DNN) compression and optimization. Supporting research team in the designing and implementation of novel Tensor Network architectures for deep learning models optimization. Communicating results and experiments within the team and, if necessary, outside the team Writing a  final report Desired skills and qualifications Enrolled full-time student in the area of Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) or an equivalent field of study. Experience with AI/ML libraries such as PyTorch. Experience in Quantum Computing or Quantum Inspired Methods. Experience with TN libraries is plus Proficient in English.
