Summary Ultrasound Technologist Full-Time, FTE 1.0, 40 hrs. I First Shift BHCOR-Radiology Diagnostic I Corbin, KY The Ultrasound department, also known as Sonography, specializes in imaging that uses high-frequency sound waves to create real-time images of the body’s internal structures. Obstetric Ultrasound: Monitoring fetal development during pregnancy. Abdominal Ultrasound: Evaluating organs like the liver, kidneys, gallbladder, and pancreas. Vascular Ultrasound: Checking for blood clots, blockages, or circulation issues in veins and arteries. Musculoskeletal Ultrasound: Evaluating soft tissue injuries, joint abnormalities, and fluid collections. Provides health care services by applying sonic energy to assist in diagnosis. Performs sonography procedures, computer processing and related techniques, producing images for the interpretation by a Radiologist or a licensed independent practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of service and maintains a demeanor complimentary to medical ethics. Recognizes various patient conditions in order to provide appropriate patient care to ensure successful completion of the exam or procedure. Cardiac Ultrasound (Echocardiography): Assessing heart function and detecting abnormalities. Vascular Ultrasound: Checking for blood clots, blockages, or circulation issues in veins and arteries. Musculoskeletal Ultrasound: Evaluating soft tissue injuries, joint abnormalities, and fluid collections. The Ultrasound Technologist provides diagnostic imaging services by applying sonic energy to assist in medical diagnosis. This role performs sonography procedures, processes images, and produces high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation by a Radiologist or licensed independent practitioner. The Ultrasound Technologist exercises sound professional judgment, delivers patient-centered care, and adapts imaging techniques based on patient condition to ensure safe and successful exam completion. Key Responsibilities Perform ultrasound examinations according to departmental protocols and physician orders Produce and archive high-quality diagnostic images in PACS for radiologist review Verify patient identity, clinical history, and exam orders prior to procedures Continuously monitor patients throughout examinations and respond appropriately to patient needs Assist radiologists and authorized providers with procedures as needed Provide preliminary technical impressions per department protocol (not diagnostic interpretation) Participate in image quality assurance, peer review, and ACR accreditation activities Maintain ultrasound equipment, report malfunctions, and assist with equipment selection and upgrades Requirements Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or equivalent Active registration or eligibility for registration with one of the following: ARRT, ARDMS, RCS Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association Must obtain ARDMS certification in Abdomen or Vascular within one (1) year of hire, if not already certified Must obtain and maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association within six (6) months of hire, if not current Benefits Health, Vision, Dental, and Pet Insurance Life Insurance Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Identity Theft Protection Tuition Reimbursement up to $6,000 annually Company-Paid Maternity and Paternity Leave 5 days of Paid Time Off available upon hire Bereavement Leave (includes pets) PTO Sell Back Program Compassionate Leave Sharing Program (PTO donation) Retirement plan with employer match Paid holidays Professional development and continuing education Work Experience Education If you would like to be part of a growing family focused on supporting clinical excellence, teamwork and innovation, we urge you to apply now!
