Job Description: Job Description Responsible for leading and overseeing the underwriting department for medical and life insurance products. This role involves developing and implementing underwriting policies, managing risk assessment processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Underwriting Lead also collaborates with other departments to optimize product offerings and pricing strategies while maintaining profitability and managing the overall risk portfolio of the insurance company Preferred skills Extensive experience in medical and life insurance underwriting Strong leadership and team management abilities In-depth knowledge of insurance industry regulations and compliance requirements Strong decision-making capabilities, especially in complex underwriting cases Ability to develop and implement underwriting policies and guidelines Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal Strong business acumen and understanding of insurance market trends Ability to collaborate effectively with other departments (e.g., claims, sales, actuarial) Continuous learning mindset to stay updated on medical advancements and industry changes Strong ethical standards and integrity Problem-solving and critical thinking skills Ability to manage and optimize underwriting processes for efficiency Qualifications Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in medical and life insurance underwriting, with at least 5 years in a leadership role Strong understanding of medical conditions, mortality risks, and their impact on insurance underwriting Excellent leadership skills with experience managing and developing underwriting teams In-depth knowledge of insurance regulations, compliance requirements, and industry best practices Professional designations such as FALU (Fellow of the Academy of Life Underwriting) or FLMI (Fellow, Life Management Institute) would be plus points Proven track record of developing and implementing successful underwriting strategies and policies Responsibilities Lead and manage the underwriting team, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations Develop and implement underwriting strategies, policies, and guidelines for medical and life insurance products Oversee risk assessment processes and ensure consistent application of underwriting standards Collaborate with actuarial, claims, and product development teams to optimize insurance offerings Analyze underwriting data and market trends to inform decision-making and improve processes Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards Manage relationships with reinsurers and other key stakeholders Drive innovation in underwriting practices, including the adoption of new technologies and data analytics Monitor and analyze underwriting results to maintain profitability and manage the risk portfolio Contribute to the development of new insurance products and pricing strategies Stay informed about medical advancements and industry changes that may impact underwriting practices Job Category: Underwriting - Individual Posting End Date: 13/02/2026
