About the role: Grow your career in institutional banking – join MUFG as an Associate in Sydney MUFG Bank, Ltd is a leading provider of institutional banking services to top tier clients in the Consumer, Healthcare, Real Estate and Industrials (CHRI) sectors in Australia, including listed and unlisted corporates, sponsors and fund managers. As an Associate, you will report to a Director in the Corporate Coverage Australia team, supporting relationship management for a diverse portfolio of institutional clients in the CHRI sectors. You will work closely with Relationship Managers across all aspects of client engagement—from marketing and onboarding to pitching and transaction execution. The role also involves coordinating with product teams (including Debt Capital Markets, Transaction Banking, Global Markets, ESG Finance, Project Finance, and Leveraged & Acquisition Finance), managing pricing and returns analysis, pipeline tracking, account planning, and KYC processes. What you’ll be doing: Support client relationship management, including industry analysis for onboarding and retention. Coordinate onboarding of new clients as part of local, regional, and global growth plans; prepare pitch presentations with Relationship Managers and product teams. Assist in origination and execution of new business, contributing to financial and portfolio performance. Ensure seamless onboarding and deal execution by mastering internal processes and optimizing client interactions. Lead pricing and returns analysis and prepare screening materials for new and refinancing activities. Engage directly with clients when required, demonstrating a proactive, solutions-oriented approach. Maintain and present account plans at screening committees and to senior management alongside Relationship Managers. Track and update transaction pipelines, ensuring comprehensive coverage of client-related activity. What we are looking for: 5+ years’ experience in banking or finance, ideally with client coverage exposure. Undergraduate degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, or Law from a leading university. Knowledge of Consumer, Healthcare, Real Estate, and Industrials markets and deal structures preferred. Broad understanding of corporate and investment banking products; investment banking skills will be considered. Strong grasp of account planning and pipeline management. Excellent stakeholder management, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Advanced Excel proficiency, strong analytical and research capabilities. Clear written and verbal communication skills. Self-starter with initiative, drive, and enthusiasm. Team player with problem-solving ability and capacity to prioritize multiple tasks independently.
